    Air Conditioning Not Right...

I examined that "heater bypass" (I think that's the official name for it) vacuum manifold thingy... it looked okay until I jiggled it around, at which point it disintegrated. I guess 21 years of coolant & heat rotted the plastic. I've replaced it with a new one. Glad I did so, as I learned...

    Air Conditioning Not Right...

UPDATE So... I found a coupon in the paper for a free air conditioner check at a local Midas. I thought since it was free, I'd have some experts look at it. Boy was I ever wrong!!! I presented the coupon to the manager for a free air conditioning check. After a few hours, he told me I owed him...

Where Is The A/C Orifice Tube Located?

In this thread http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160113 , a member specifies that the short end goes toward the firewall. That is the end without all the screen material, or the end that seems to easily break in half if you insert without using the proper tool. Also in that...

    Air Conditioning Not Right...

Thanks! I did ask for a refund or redo from the shop. They denied both options. Sadly they have a great reputation in town (AAA Bob Sumerel). I might consider reversing the credit card charge, but my past experience has been that the card companies are on the merchant's side... The pressures...

    Air Conditioning Not Right...

Hello all, I had the a/c charged at a shop ($150:eek::thumbdwn:) and it leaked out within a few days. The leak seemed to be at the compressor shaft, so I replaced the compressor with a rebutable rebuild. For good measure, I also replaced the lines, dryer, orifice tube, and sensors. Pulled a...

Where Is The A/C Orifice Tube Located?

I took out the wheel well liner to access. Job done! Also got to replace that hard to reach spark plug while I was there! I recommended using an orifice tool to insert the new part. The plastic isn't sturdy enough to push against (I actually broke one but had a spare).

    Vapers?

Hello! Yes, but I haven't been as successful as you. I now own 3 different vaping systems... none of which seem to satisfy me :( I think I'm doomed.

Where Is The A/C Orifice Tube Located?

My apologies for reviving such an old post. But... if I found it helpful some 10 years later, then someone else out there will too! Does anyone have suggestions on how to get to this fitting/tube??? From above, it seems to be blocked by hoses/harnesses/brackets/etc. VERY frustrating. Is there...

Hello! I recently bought a 1994 Explorer XL 4x4. I found this site after Googling for some guidance on all the repairs I'll have to make. Even though it only has 150k miles, and has every page of the maintenence log filled out, there are plenty of things to address at this age. Seems I have my...

    Need a replacement drivers seat

Apologies for reviving an older discussion, but how are these seats holding up? Are they soft or firm? I am considering replacing my driver's seat too.
