    Power Windows not working

Thanks much for the info. Found the other two wires and made the connections. All four windows up and running again.

    Power Windows not working

Found two wires in the door, one is black/blue that seems to have separated from its wire mold/connector. The other is yellow and white that is broken. Both connect to the main window control. Oddly enough, by pushing back the rubber boot, I cannot find the connecting wires for the black/blue...

Help Park Brake Assembly '04 Explorer

Something similar to an ice pick if you are old enough to remember what that looks like. ;)

Help Park Brake Assembly '04 Explorer

I am thankful to xlt03 for the tip. I was extremely frustrated that day. It was his little tidbit of information (and technical know how) that saved the day. Funny how things work when you know what to do.

    Air Bag Light - Codes

Cleaned all connections under the seats. Next, if the front impact sensor is inexpensive, I'll replace that. Does anyone have a diagram or picture of what it looks like, or know exactly where it is located on an 04 EB Explorer, and is there more than one? BTW, no call back yet from my...

    Air Bag Light - Codes

Great stuff. Thanks. All lights work as required from ignition off to on position. The air bag only comes on when the vehicle is warmed up and driven. I drive 5 miles to work in the morning and it doesn't beep or stay on at all. It's weird.

    Air Bag Light - Codes

Update-took it to my mechanic. He said, he is getting two codes. The first indicates the frontal impact sensor is bad. The second indicates the air bag module is bad. I am getting an intermittent air bag light. Example, today I drove 6 miles to work and 6 miles back home--no flashing light...

2004 Explorer EB - Bad Clockspring?

My air bag light comes on. Not sure exactly what is causing it. Would like to check out the fuse to see if it needs to be replaced. Does anyone know what fuse to check on an '04, 4.6 Explorer? I know this seems to be a common problem. All my lights work. The wires under the seat are...

    Air Bag Light - Codes

I have an '04 Explorer, EB. The air bag light comes on and I get a series of 5 beeps, 5 times. The light then stays on. Any ideas?

    2011 Ranger not for U.S.

I am a 4x4 guy. Use my vehicle to fish the beach. Ford is going to lose their 4x4 market to toyota and jeep. Ground clearance on every vehicle except the raptor is about 7.5 inches at the lowest point. Compare that to Toyota and Jeep at 9.5 inches. Dodge is making the same mistake with the...

    Rear Axle Seal

Thanks. I am waiting on a quote to replace or to repair from a guy who does lots of these. I also sent a pm to ericaautopart.

    Rear Axle Seal

New is what he quoted me. He said you don't want a rebuilt unit. New is the better way to go. I guess I'll have to confirm again. Either way, I am going to talk to others outside the dealership. I was thinking more in the $1200 range. Guess I am out of touch with reality.

    Rear Axle Seal

Yes, it is for a new unit. Having said that, I do not intend to go that route. If the truck had fewer miles on it, I may consider doing something like that. I plan to make inquiries elsewhere, at least while the truck is still running anyway.

    Rear Axle Seal

It's the differential. Cost to replace $1700. Waiting time just to get the part, 2-3 weeks. Not good all the way around.

    Rear Axle Seal

Taking the vehicle back to Ford tomorrow. Drove it today on the highway and after a while the noise became louder. Now I can hear it even when I am driving locally. It is more of a whining, like a bearing, and it seems to be centrally located in the rear of the vehicle.

    Rear Axle Seal

I read many threads on here that say it is a common problem for explorers 2002 through 2005. Either the diff goes or an axle seal or pinion leaks and when fixed, the noise never really dissappears. Is more damage taking place by driving the vehicle? Ford didn't seem to think anything...

Strange Humming Noise From Rear....2002 Explorer

Gone through the rear diff hum now. Just had a rear axle seal replaced. Soon after, I hear the hum. Plan to take it back to make sure they put enough oil in after the seal replacement. If so, how long do I have before I am faced with a $1500 repair bill. Have 80,000 on the Ex now. It is...

    Rear Axle Seal

Not totally sure. Changed the oil not too long ago and didn't notice anything. Didn't really do any hard driving with it. I guess what you say is possible though.

    Rear Axle Seal

Just had my real axle seal, passenger side, replaced. Was leaking fluid in addition to hearing a low pitched whinning sound. Now that I had it fixed, I still hear a whinning sound, it's just a pitch above normal. Is that common? Don't notice anything else in terms of perfomance. Nothing is...

    OBX beach driving

I agree. I run the beach all the time and use only 4h mostly to enter and exit, unless I see some soft stuff ahead. Never really needed to use 4L.

    Hello from NC

John, Glad you found us. Hope you can report back on the dreaded timing chain rattle. Maybe we can all learn something from it. I take it, you do your own work. Maybe you can share some pics. Thanks.

    Ex on the beach

I drove down to Georgetown Delaware last year to pick up my cooler rack. There's a guy there, Rockandreds, who does some nice work. He put a sand spike holder on the back of my cooler rack. Now everything is attached to the outside of my truck. He fishes some of the same spots you mentioned...

    Ex on the beach

Never air down in Brigantine. No need too. Just have to watch where you travel. Now is the time to get back into it. Lots of nice fish being caught. Go get 'em!!!

    Ex on the beach

Bobwiersema, Fish on the beach in Brigantine NJ. Just curious, do you air down in Delaware? I have an 04 Explorer and have been on the beach in Brig at least 50 times. Got stuck only once. It was my own stupidity. I wasn't paying attention and drove into some soft sand. It happened...
