    2010 Limited with 20" Wheels

I have not been able to find a shop that will strip and clearcoat them. They say that when they media blast them to take off the clearcoat and corrosion, they would need to be "brushed" again. I am considering stripping them as you suggested, then having them clear coated. Would like to get in...

    2010 Limited with 20" Wheels

My 2010 Explorer has the 20" brushed Aluminum Wheels. I really like the wheels, but there is some corrosion around the center caps and the valve stems on 2 wheels. I went to a place that refinishes wheels, and they say there is no way to clean them up and put a clear coat on them. The shop wants...

Two 4th Generation Explorers, Same two issues on both

I had wind noise from the front seat side windows and it drove me crazy. I replaced the weatherstripping on the driver's side window, but that did nothing except cost me $95! I finally fixed it by pulling the weatherstrip off the metal that the weatherstripping attaches to, and bent that metal...

Solved Another thread about exhaust manifolds replacement on 4.6 v8.

Thanks! I am still trying to get the compressor off. I have the belt off, and I can see 2 bolts on the front side. I have loosened them, but the compressor is not budging. In the Hayes manual, it sounds like they say the bolts are on the bottom. Any thoughts?

Yes, I have watched his videos, he is terrific! On his video, he mentions dropping the A/C compressor to get better access, and he has the equipment to evacuate the system. I am hoping that I can just take the drive belt off and drop the compressor so it is out of the way so that I can get the...

Both manifolds. Clearly they did not want to do it. They were going to take the engine out and replace both manifolds. They said that even though the driver's side isn't bad yet, it will be soon. The passenger side has both studs broken in the head on the front cylinder and they said that...

Solved Another thread about exhaust manifolds replacement on 4.6 v8.

Explorer_PL has a great picture of the motor mounts. I read (Rock Auto) that you should replace the motor mount when you replace the manifolds. I was able to loosen the top motor mounts, but after looking and investigating further, it looks like you have to pretty much remove the front...

Solved Another thread about exhaust manifolds replacement on 4.6 v8.

I was able to remove the nuts on the motor mount and lift the motor enough to pull the manifold out from the top.

I am doing this on my 2010 Explorer Limited with the rear heat & A/C. The A/C and heating tubes go right in front of the gap where I need to pull out the old manifold. I have the manifold off the engine and studs out, but I am not able to get the manifold out. I think I need to evacuate the A/C...
