    Winter tires

People tend to get steel for winter rims as they are stronger and more durable and that is just one of the several advantages regarding steel rims vs alloys. I'm more concerned about safety than looking pretty while driving through a blizzard :) LOL

Dash cam install - anyone do it yet?

I just upgraded my dash cam to the u1000 and picked up the ODB harness at the same time. If you get the harness it is a very simple installation and no need to remove headliner. Then again, if you go the route of fuse taps you still won't need to remove the headliner. I realize tapping into...

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

Oops, that was a typo. Here is a snippet from my receipt.

    Apple CarPlay takes over Sync3

I’d have to assume yes as it worked without me having to make any modifications.

    Apple CarPlay takes over Sync3

Not only that but have you tried to use two phones that are paired to the system while one is connected to Apple CarPlay? The system won't let you. If I have my personal phone connected to Apple CarPlay, I should be able to receive calls over bluetooth on my work phone but no. Yet my Honda...

    Sync 3 screen goes blank

Had the same issue with my screen, went black. Nothing regarding the display would respond and at the time I was using Apple CarPlay. The audio turned off and pressing the power button did nothing. I eventually pulled over, turn the explorer off, opened the drivers door, closed the door and...

Default rear view camera, full view

Whomever designed the layout for the 10.1 inch portrait screen really needs to: A. Go out, purchase a vehicle and actually drive one. I swear the people that designed this and approved it have never owned a vehicle since cassette tapes were all the rage. B. Find a new line of work Hands down...

    Sync 4

In other words, if you expect your Sync 3 to be upgradable to Sync 4 it can be. It is as easy as trading in your vehicle for one that comes with Sync 4.

    Sync 4

Same thing happened when I got my 2015 F150 Platinum. Was not impressed when I found out Sync 3 was released 6 months after I received my order and was told my system could not be upgraded. I highly doubt we will be able to upgrade ours to Sync 4.

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

I do agree with you on the looks but in Canada if I went with alloy rims the price would have been double the price. Also the amount of salt they put on the roads in my area destroy aftermarket alloys after a few years. I've had issue with alloys losing tire pressure in the winter after a few...

Rims are slightly different as well.

Here they are on my ST, dirt and salt are included for free this time of year.

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

I bit the bullet and just ordered the lugs and caps directly through ford. Probably could have sourced them out cheaper, but even if I keep the rims for only 4 winters that means the cost of ownership for the lugs and caps would only be $46 CAD per year. I spend a lot more than that on coffee...

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

The contact I have at Ford in Southern Ontario is looking into what it would cost to ship the rims to the US. For now he is going to price out shipping to Port Huron, MI. I'll post more info once I have it.

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

Not sure if your question was directed to me or not but.... Paid the cheap Canadian price for the rims (I am in Canada), TPMS 60 sensors and used the original lug nuts.

The ride quality certainly is nicer than the 21's I just took off. LOL

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

Blizzak DM-V2 265/65R18 mounted on LB5Z-1015B. Picture perspective isn't the greatest but the tires fit just fine.

No need to apologize. Dealing with new model year vehicles is always a trial and error process :)

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

Problem with that is, the tires on the explorer ST with the street pack are 275/45R21, not 255/55R21. Trying to match as close as I can to the 275/45 diameter. The sites I looked at show the 255/70R18 as being out by -4%

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

Unfortunately everyone around here is sold out of that size when it comes to the X-Ice2 and DM-V2. I am getting the 265/65R18 DM-V2 mounted this morning. As long as there is no rubbing that's what I will stick with. Tire calculators are all over the place when it comes to what should be close...

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

As my luck would have it, the Blizzak DM-V2's are out of stock (well, only 2 are available) so I'll be going with Goodyear WinterCommand 255/70R18 113S BSW tires. Hopefully they are pretty decent. Price wasn't too bad at $209 per tire. Update: Bad luck strikes again. Dealer called back and...

18" steel rims on ST with Street Pack

Brian, What is the current size of your Blizzaks? I'm getting the same rims mounted this week and looking at the DM-V2's. 255/65R18

    2020 Explorer accessories/parts?

Agreed as I have the same items you have except for the roof rack. I'm on the fence about getting it vs a Thule. As for the mud flaps any issues with yours? Front drivers side has a noticeable gap regardless of how I try to adjust it. Passenger side is perfect.
