Lower Ball Joint Replacement How To (lots of Pictures)

Hi all, I have a '98 Explorer 2wd. I'm planning on replacing the upper and lower ball joints. Do I need to loosen the torsion bars in order to do it? I don't see anyone here mentioning that step, but like every "official" manual that I've found specifically mentions doing that. Personally...

rear body panel crack? who has it!!

You're very welcome. I'm still tee'd off about the dude, but at least I'm not out anything other than time. I really need to order a new panel and get it painted. I'll probably end up removing the original and installing the new panel to try to save a few bucks.

    05 Fog light Grill/Bezel

I replaced these on my '03 awhile back. I wasn't comfortable buying the aftermarket bezels off eBay as I wasn't sure about the quality. I ended up ordering OEM Ford replacements from Titus Will Ford for like $30. The website is: www.tituswillfordparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html Make sure...

Rear Lift Gate (upper one) Plastic broke in half

Abarkl: I'm shocked that you received the replacement panel from OEM Direct Solutions. I bought the panel through their eBay account autotrendnews, but never received it. The guy was very responsive to my questions before I purchased the panel, but refused to respond to any e-mails or...

rear body panel crack? who has it!!

Don't buy from OEM Direct Solutions Don't waste your time with the replacement panel from OEM Direct Solutions/eBay seller autotrendnews. I bought a replacement panel over 5 weeks ago, and the guy never shipped it out. He also refused to respond to any e-mails, despite the fact that he was...

Upper balljoints-> replace entire arm or just the balljoint?

OK, so while I was installing my Ground Pounder springs last weekend I saw that my front upper ball joints are in need of replacement (the boots are torn and the ball joints are rusted... not sure if they currently have excessive play). Ford only sells the upper ball joints as part of the...

    Snapping wheel studs... please help!

OK, so I got the truck back yesterday. The mechanic also had no clue what was causing the problem. He confirmed that the rims are hubcentric, and corrosion does not appear to be an issue. The only thing he could point to was the possibility of my lug nuts somehow loosening up or my torque...

    Snapping wheel studs... please help!

Thanks to all for some ideas. I'm really at a loss to figure out what's going on. I know a bunch of people run 22 inch rims without a problem, so I wouldn't think it's my 20s that are the problem. I'm torque the wheels using a tourque wrench. 70ft/lbs, then 95 ft/lbs.

    Snapping wheel studs... please help!

Hey guys, I have a 2003 Explorer XLT (4-door, 4wd). I installed a set of American Racing Rogue wheels, size 20x8.5" about 18 months ago. I snapped a wheel stud off about 12 months ago on the right rear, but didn't think much of it as I figured it was a weak stud or overly large pothole...

    Camber adjusters

Thanks. I don't know why I didn't think to check Summit. I just ordered a set from them for $210 plus the $10 handling charge.

    License plate removal

My '03 Explorer had the same plastic rivets. I took a nail punch and hit the center part of the rivet until it popped out through the back of the rivet. Then, the remaining part of the rivet pulled right out. It's hard to explain, but give it a few whacks with a nail punch or other suitable...

    Camber adjusters

Thanks again! I'll order up a set of the Ingalls washers. Anyone know who has the best deal going on Ground Force Springs? The best I've found so far is $229.95. http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.aspx/partid/477515/partfamilyid/1331/subcategoryid/374/categoryid/30

    Camber adjusters

Thanks for the link for the Ingalls washers. The site says they're for 4x2 Explorers. Does anyone know if these would also work on a 4x4 Explorer?

    Lowering options for a 4wd '03

Thanks for the info on the Ford Racing springs. They have the same specs as the Groundforce springs, so I figured they were just relabled. Now I just need to figure out what to do as far as camber adjusters go...

    Lowering options for a 4wd '03

Yeah, I saw the Ford Motorsport springs on Summit's site. They have the same drop as the Ground Force springs, so I'm not sure if they're just relabled Ground Force springs sold by Ford Motorsport. Does anyone have any experience with the Ford Motorsport springs?

    Lowering options for a 4wd '03

02_ex_on_dubs-> One other quick question... I see you live in Boca. Did you do the springs yourself, or did you have a local shop install them?

    Lowering options for a 4wd '03

Thanks everyone for the info. That's what I was worried about with the Belltech springs... I'm not sure that I'll be able to get the camber adjusted back to a reasonable amount. Does anyone have any recommendations for camber adjusters?

    Lowering options for a 4wd '03

Hi guys, I've got a '03 XLT with 4wd, and am looking to lower it 1.5-2.5 inches. I'm having trouble verifying what springs will work for 4wd Explorers (most of the application guides only address the 2wd Explorers).. I'm interested in the Belltech springs, but I've heard that you can't get...
