100,000 miles MileStone, and a whole set of new problems...

The shop I took it to quoted me around $3k......I'll have to keep looking around for less, lol....

keyless is not working....need help please.

You mean the keyring remote, or the panel on the door? My panel hasn't been working for the longest time, it's annoying, lol...

    Fuel Filter Replacement w/pics

Ended up costing me $72 + tax, of course this was AFTER I spent a bunch of money on jack stands, new filter, and all of the "tricks"...... And to be honest, I didn't really notice any improvement, though at 83k, it was more than past due, lol....

My explorer how she sits now. A picture thread.

What wheels are those? They look good...

    Stock these are decently fast!

Okay, but we don't want any of those, at least I don't. I love my X, so why is it so unimaginable that I'd want to add to it?

    Stock these are decently fast!

I've killed a bunch, but the only one I can remember off the top of my head is my brother's '04 Acura TL, at two lights in a row. The first was pretty much a gimme, he was still revving it in neutral when the light turned green. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I beat him at the second...

    run smoother?

And as you can tell from my comments in that thread, yes, though others have found it extremely easy. The shop that I took it to had the whole thing finished in 20 minutes....didn't get a chance to ask the guy what his secret was though, lol..
  8. Rofocowboy84

    run smoother?

When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced? Just did that to mine and it seems to run smoother. Of course I'll need a new tranny and wheel bearings to completely smooth it out, lol....

    Fuel Filter Replacement w/pics

Well, I gave up today and finally just took it to a shop. I think this is one instance where trying to do it yourself ended up costing more, because I bought all of the supplies and everything, only to end up having to pay someone else to do it.... I looked inside the fitting, and it didn't...

    Fuel Filter Replacement w/pics

Yeah, I put the nuts right back on after taking the dust shield thingy off. I've tried putting the handle of my small wrench between the filter body and tool, seems to help a little, but not enough to disengage the clips.....it's really, really annoying, lol....

    Fuel Filter Replacement w/pics

Okay, seriously, I've been f-ing with this thing for the last 3 hours, NOTHING WORKS!!!! I am beyond frustration and if I had a nuke, I might just consider BigFellor's advice. This is such bulls**t.....

I think we need a new bumper!

Me want!!! Though I'd prefer more tubing, but the base looks good!

    I want a aftermarket hood

I really want that Sarona hood, but I don't have the $700 to get it, lol....

    Fuel Filter Replacement w/pics

Well, the sun is setting on another day, and what do I have to show for it? A new fuel filter? HA! Nope, merely a sore thumb from pushing the little plastic thing it. That's right, I bought the third "tool" today, hoping it would work, despite everyone else saying the plastic ones were the...

    Removing running boards

Look for Sport bars. I have an XLT Sport, and it has good looking "nerf bar" type ones. I love 'em, but yeah, the minivan ones are ugly....

    led tails

I've been looking at those too. The only thing I don't like is the reflector. IMHO, the stock taillight reflecting pattern looks kick a$$....

    Fuel Filter Replacement w/pics

Wow, what an epic waste of time.....that was seriously the most frustrating thing I've ever done, and I watch inmates all day who have nothing better to do than complain about everything! I used the scissor tool, nothing, went back and got the aluminum thing, still nothing! I finally gave up...

True Duals on my 04: How do I get the o2 sensors to work with dual exhaust?

FM mufflers are like $80 tops online.... Personally, I like the Pypes Violators, and will get one installed eventually, lol....

Feels Like The Left Side Is Going Over Small Speedbumps

As far as I can tell, no. The shaking has been going on since before I got these tires, but then "speedbump" is within the last few months, so maybe....I just assumed the two things were related, since they feel the same, just faster depending on the speed...

True Duals on my 04: How do I get the o2 sensors to work with dual exhaust?

Well, if you're getting duals, two 2" pipes should be sufficient, the total flow should be better than a single 2.5"....

Feels Like The Left Side Is Going Over Small Speedbumps

Okay, so for the longest time my X would shake at highway speeds. Well, now even when I'm going slow, it feels like I'm driving over small speedbumps like every five feet on the left side, I'm guessing it's once per every revolution of the tire. I have no idea what it is.....any thoughts?

    i think tc is bad

Wheels normally "hop" when you're turning in 4x4 on dry pavement. The symptoms you describe sound like the rear diff to me....
  24. Rofocowboy84

    Clunk when braking.

I get the same thing frequently. I keep thinking it's the bearings, but I have yet to replace them. I might just take it to the shop to confirm that's what it is before I spend $$ on new hubs.....

2005 Explorer stalling out after heavy rain

Lol, yeah, engines don't like water too much. Glad to hear you got everything figured out! :D

    still want lift spacers?

    Sweet....
  28. Rofocowboy84

    still want lift spacers?

Are you going to be doing different heights? I like the factory rake in my X and don't want to lose it just because my only option was a .5 inch less lift in the rear....

True Duals on my 04: How do I get the o2 sensors to work with dual exhaust?

I think you're missing my point. Where the two downpipes meet and form into one pipe (known as the Y), just branch off two pipes from that, and you have a completely fine X-pipe....

True Duals on my 04: How do I get the o2 sensors to work with dual exhaust?

    Aftermarket Tranny

I was perusing various parts websites as usual and, coming up on that time that I'll need a rebuilt transmission, I took interest in the transmission sections. There seems to be some quality performance-minded transmissions for about half of what a rebuild would cost me. Would it make sense to...

Does Seafoam Always Cause Exhaust Smoke?

And as I already stated, yes. The first time it was the PCV hose, but I realized that that only fed the one side of cylinders. The second time it was right through the brake booster line, which the engine sure didn't like while I was doing it, lol....
  34. Rofocowboy84

Does Seafoam Always Cause Exhaust Smoke?

Alright, did it again today, half of the can (I think, lol) right into the brake booster line, turned the X off, waited 15 minutes, turned it back on, let it idle, revved it a bunch, etc. There was a slight wisp of white smoke for about three seconds, that's it, lol. Like I said, I know the...

Best Way To Remove Oil Filter

I guess I should have elaborated, the way you read it makes me seem like a n00b, lol. The K&N filters have 1" nuts welded to the bottom of them, so all you need is a 1" wrench to get them off. ;)
  36. Rofocowboy84

Does Seafoam Always Cause Exhaust Smoke?

Yeah, it was fairly warm, I didn't wait too long after driving it back from the parts store. Maybe because I didn't use that much. Also, I didn't use the brake booster line, so I'll probably get another can and try again. I did change my oil right afterwards, but it had been a while, so I...

Does Seafoam Always Cause Exhaust Smoke?

Okay, so I decided to Seafoam my '04 XLT today. Followed the directions exactly, 1/3 in the oil, 1/3 in the gas tank, and 1/3 in a vacuum line. Then I shut it off for five minutes like the bottle said, and then turned it back on. Idling, no smoke, holding it at 2k rpm for a minute, no...

Best Way To Remove Oil Filter

Alright, so instead of outsourcing my oil changes like I always have in the past, I decided to do my own today. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the old filter off. I've heard strap wrenches are the best way, but I don't have one. I have a K&N filter to put on, so I won't have this problem...

True Duals on my 04: How do I get the o2 sensors to work with dual exhaust?

The cats are right after the exhaust manifolds, you shouldn't have to even touch them, even if you are doing true duals....

    still want lift spacers?

Check the comment I quoted. I was talking about all of the 2nd Gen owners that come on here and try to give us advice....when the 3rd Gens are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! ;)
