Setting up an in-car LAN?
Hi all, Is there any way to setup an in-car LAN in an 18 Sport that uses the hotspot to stream video to connected devices? For long car trips in our 13 XLT, I used an old router and a connected 500GB drive to stream video to the kids' iPads. I'm hoping to do something similar for an upcoming...- Mike Saunders

Explorer reliability
2013 XLT has 110,000 miles and has had one dealer-serviced issued -- the infamous paint bubbling. Since then, I've changed a PCV valve and repaired a serp belt and broken tensioner (at 109K miles). That it. The car has been dead reliable, to the point I'm having a 2018 Sport delivered in two weeks.- Mike Saunders

One of the dealers I spoke with today confirmed this. This may be a course of action.- Mike Saunders

Price check: 2018 Sport with 401A
To recap: The "0 percent financing" is a marketing ploy. The rebates are in effect if you agree to pay the exorbitant 7.9 percent financing, which is double what local sources offer. The difference between both is less than $1,000. I'm leaning toward buying a 2017 with under 30K miles, letting...- Mike Saunders

Price check: 2018 Sport with 401A
Got a lovely surprise when I pressed the sales reps for more info. Apparently the "0 percent financing" erases all the incentives, according to two dealers. I'm extremely unhappy with this experience so far. The rebates apply with standard Ford financing -- at 7.9 percent! -- and only some are...- Mike Saunders

Price check: 2018 Sport with 401A
Hey folks...we're trading in out 2013 XLT on a 2018 Sport with the 401A and were quoted $44,886 (not including taxes) Is that a decent price considering the option package? Are there additional Friends and Neighbors discounts, or A or Z program discounts that can be applied? Thanks...- Mike Saunders

We're Back
For a trip from Boston to Florida and back to see family, I set up an in-car wireless network with a $50 router, a USB drive loaded with 30+ hours of movies, and the family iPads. You'll need a file browser app on the tablets and to set the tablets to recognize the router's IP address...- Mike Saunders

Explorer Gas Mileage - including Ecoboost
Just drove from Fort Lauderdale to Boston in a '13 XLT, with two adults and two small children. Cargo included a 100-lb dog, a few hundred pounds of clothes, gifts and gear...and four 18" wheels in a hitch-mounted rack and enclosed in a cargo bag. Drive was non-stop, with temperatures starting...- Mike Saunders

Torque Steer Severe Today
The HP isn't the issue, it's the torque. ;) The front-bias in torque delivery can be a bit disconcerting to people who aren't used to driving powerful FWD cars. I come from multiple Saabs which were notorious for torque steer, so the Ex Sport feels fairly tame by comparison. :)- Mike Saunders
