Thanks for the reply... damn, that sounds scary, if it's common, but then that could be said with regards to any vehicle I guess?! ... I'm hopefully getting the replacement fitted this afternoon.- darren187

UK Mk1 XLT gearbox question
After some more investigating, removal and part strip down of the gearbox in question, that part is from the 3rd and 4th gear syncho mesh unit. The parts from Ford were close to £400, not including the bearing tool required for the removal and fitting of the bearings... and then as luck would...- darren187

I picked up a used 01' Ranger 4x4 XLT at a farmers auction this week, only to find that there was no third gear when driving. All other gears are ok. I finally got it up on the ramp this morning for my father to take a look at, he's a land rover mechanic of 30 years, after draining and removing...- darren187

Hi, I'm now the owner of an 01' Ranger XLT, which I'll be using for my new job in forestry. I see there's quite a lot of useful info here, whether or not its related to UK models... I have some questions about the gearbox, hopefully I find the answers here?- darren187
