rear axle seals
My mother has a 03 Explorer Eddie. In the 3 years she's had it, she's had the rear axle seals go out 4 times. It's all the seals on the diff that are going. She just keeps bringing it in to be fixed and Ford just keeps happily fixing it. Is this a known problem? I did some searching and...- wxboilermaker

2 Different Mechanix STUMPED!!!
dang it, i had this long reply about fuel sync and ignition timing written up, then I saw that it doesn't do it while in park. what I suggest is finding a Factory service manual. Find the section on the PCM and start reading the various loop modes. It should tell you exactly what sensors...- wxboilermaker

My Engine has No Power, It's gutless. What's Wrong.
with 120k on the clock, the first thing I'd do is a compression check and leak down test. Just verify that the meat of your engine is still strong. I'd then start doing tune up stuff. Change plugs, wires, cap, rotar. I'd check the fuel pressure to make sure it's alright. Then I'd just...- wxboilermaker

Brakes
The brakes on my truck are starting to get too thin for comfort. I've heard that some ABS systems require A scanner be hooked up to it to retract the pistons, and that if you just force them back like you would on a non-ABS system, that it will mess stuff up. Is this in fact the case on the...- wxboilermaker

belt chirp
i just replaced the idler. The belt was changed about a month ago when the pully first started to chirp. I'm thinking it might just have been dirt seeing as it's not making noise any more.- wxboilermaker

belt chirp
My 2002 4L x has started the notorious belt chirp, but this time with a twist. It was chirping bad so I popped the hood and took a look. Sure enough the idler was toast, so I change it. When I first started teh car back up, It was still chirping, however a lot less. You could watch the...- wxboilermaker

what about the 4wd low refusing to engauge? I'm kind of thinking it's going to require opening up the T-case to fix/diagnose- wxboilermaker

4wd low no workum
My mom recently started having this problem with her X. It's a 2002 Limited with the push button 4wd. It will engague 4x4 high no problem. However it will not engauge 4x4 low. I put it in neutral, step on the brake, hit the button, and the light in the button flashes. That's all it does...- wxboilermaker

engine blown?
Not sure where to get the kit. I'm more familiar with the Magnum engines then Ford. I'm sure there are other people here who have done it, so they should know what company to buy from, ect ect... The computer should be fine. I would definalty flash it as it probably as an OBD-II computer...- wxboilermaker

Tip of the day on oil additives that you need to know
Stay away from additives. Oil is no longer simply oil. Oil is in fact a lubricant base with an additve package to help other things. Adding stuff to the oil interferes with the chemistry of the oil and doesn't let it do it's job. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htm This...- wxboilermaker

If you really like the truck, get the new motor and rebuild the other in your spare time. Sounds like a good excuse to make a stroker if you ask me.- wxboilermaker

4x4 low not working
The other day, we had some fresh snow on the ground. Sounded like a good time to take my mom's X out to play. I shifted it into 4 wheel high, the light came on and I had power to all 4 wheels. I did get a kind of funky whine a few times tho. I attributed this to the fact she never uses 4x4...- wxboilermaker
