Can you check the solenoids in 96 transmissions in an hour? Thanks for the info. I called my local ford dealer and talked to someone in parts and he said what they were quoting me was awfully expensive. He confirmed that some of the larger trucks have solenoid packs that can cost up to $600.00...- rockydown

Are solenoids seperate in a 96 explorer or in a pack? From reading some of the other posts I wondered if any knows if the solenoids in the transmission are in a pack or could they be replaced seperately? One post said it should only take about an hour to take the transmission cover off to check...- rockydown

My 96 explorer quit while running a couple weeks ago and wouldn't restart. I finally had it towed to a repair shop last week. They determined that there was a short somewhere that blew the 30 amp fuse whenever they replaced it. They have now traced it down to the transmission. When it is not...- rockydown

My 96 explorer quit while idling the other day. I got it started and drove one business over and then it wouldn't start again.
