Air Ride to Gas Shocks
Just wanted to say thanks for the help I received on this site. Lots of info, a real good group here. Recently, upon learning 4L SOHC have 5 timing chains, one of which requires engine removal to change, (damn you Ford!) I decided to cut my losses and move on. Sold my X and picked up a 86 Suzuki...- ian1739

Front End Suspension Differences
Must have searched everything but torsion twist... well i guess that's what TT stands for eh? So I phoned Ford, and they say the 5.0L's have stiffer torsion bars, "b" I guess, pretty sure I have "d" right now. They want $120+tax each, plus $100+tax each for torsion bar adjusters. The wrecker...- ian1739

Front End Suspension Differences
98 Limited 4x4 4L. When I got this Explorer, the front air ride shocks had been replaced with gas, no coil overs, just the shocks. Recently I replaced the rear air shocks with gas also, scrapping the compressor and that mess. I plan on putting another leaf or two in the rear or maybe 1250lbs...- ian1739

AC Warm at "Max AC"
Unlikely to have both problems, but possible. When I tackled my blend door problem, I found that the heater core was hot all the time, even in max a/c. I popped the hood and followed the coolant lines until I found the water diverter valve, (located underneath the alternator in my 98) and sure...- ian1739

AC Warm at "Max AC"
Not sure if a 2000 is the same as a 98, but if you have EATC try this out first. If you get a 024 or 025 code then it's a relative easy fix of a broken actuator. More than likely though, you will not get any DTCs and it will be a broken blend door, which is quite a pain to repair. Electronic...- ian1739

Air Ride to Gas Shocks
Hey thanks for the reply guys. I think I will hold onto the parts for the time being, but once I have all the bugs worked out I'll post back. If I can figure out how to get rid of the "air ride switch off" message, I'll let you all know. thanks again!- ian1739

Air Ride to Gas Shocks
98 Explorer 4.0 Limited 4x4 I noticed the compressor for my air ride system coming on a lot, so upon further inspection I found that the shocks are rusted and leaking air. Ford wanted a ridiculous amount for replacements, and online stores weren't much better. So I decided to go with gas shocks...- ian1739
