2006 Explorer 6 speed transmission shifting issue - update
JD: See my posts on Page 10 (#s 190, 195, and 198). I had it done 4 times in 14 months (roughly), by a total of 3 different dealers. Although my wife and I loved our decked out Mountaineer, I was a week from deploying with the military for a year when the problem came back [again]--and...- exshipdriver

Whooping noise from 06 Mountaineer
I don't own the vehicle any more because of a separate transmission issue that was fixed 4 times under warranty and as soon as we hit 36K, Ford stopped covering the repairs even though it's a known problem (with a TSB). (LONG story, culminating in a Ford Cust service rep hanging up on me and...- exshipdriver

2006 Explorer 6 speed transmission shifting issue - update
Probably around a $100. See my posts on Page 10 of this thread. Save all receipts so that when the repair doesn't work in a few months, you can go back to the dealer again and again and again for re-work.- exshipdriver

2006 Explorer 6 speed transmission shifting issue - update
Emjay. First, I was only making a political statement about GM and Chrysler being bailed out and now being effectively "owned" by the US Govt (and the UAW). In fact, I applauded Ford for NOT taking the bailout money and for having made strides at turning things around. My bad for making my...- exshipdriver

2006 Explorer 6 speed transmission shifting issue - update
Well, Ford can officially kiss my @$$. Following up on my earlier post, I had the tranny worked on 3 times in the past 14 months in the Boston area, and I have since moved to San Antonio with the military. Mountaineer transmission started acting up again, so I took it into my local dealer to...- exshipdriver

2006 Explorer 6 speed transmission shifting issue - update
Just had my '06 Mountaineer in for the FOURTH time in less than a year for this tranny problem, only this time I got charged $80 because the vehicle is just over 36K miles and since we have moved away from the dealer where the first 3 repairs attempts were done, my local dealer wouldn't honor...- exshipdriver

Whooping noise from 06 Mountaineer
So I sat in the way back for a little while and listened for the noise. I think the post that I found earlier about the rear AC compressor may be on the right track. The noise definitely comes from the rear LEFT side, basically in the back corner near the bumper. It also only seems to happen...- exshipdriver

Whooping noise from 06 Mountaineer
Another follow-up: Found the following posted by someone else at http://ford.justanswer.com/explorer/1cx7g-own-2006-ford-explorer-xlt Trying to see if the noise happens when rear AC is on. So far, only hearing it when it is off, so the guy who wrote this may be onto something. Anybody...- exshipdriver

Whooping noise from 06 Mountaineer
Took it in again for the whooping noise/groaning problem, and the dealer wants to think it's everything BUT what I've described. Wind noise (replaced weatherstripping on a FRONT door), even though I've told them that it's coming from the rear end and I don't have to be moving for it to make the...- exshipdriver

Whooping noise from 06 Mountaineer
2006 Mountaineer Premier, V8 AWD. I'm getting a whooping noise that sounds like it's coming from the right rear side. Noise is intermittent, and most closely resembles the start-up of a police car siren. (No cops behind me!) Noise lasts about a second, although on rare occasion it will...- exshipdriver
