Engine Rattle On Start Up
Tsuga, I appreciate you updating us with your progress. I've got 175k miles on my 2015 explorer Sport and we just started hearing the knocking noise on startup. It sounds exactly like the older video you posted. Are you planning on replacing the tensioner?- cabrego

Explorer Eating tires, alignment off in 6 days!!
Just to follow up on this.... I believe my abnormal wear was due to faulty and cracked rear toes as cited in recall. The rear toe catastrophically failed nearly causing a major accident. I was after fixing the rear toes under recall, but I we no longer have this issue.- cabrego

did you ever solve this issue? I just dropped mine off at the dealer because it's leaking in a similar way, except it was gushing out with the motor off- cabrego

Time for tires
I'm actually quite surprised by everyone's experiences with the factory Hankook tires. I experienced the exact opposite, we made it to around 75k miles if I recall correctly, and we were not very good with rotations. Maybe we got lucky? We have experienced significant issues since then and...- cabrego

Explorer Eating tires, alignment off in 6 days!!
What could cause my alignment to be this off in 6 days? The back story is that we've been struggling trying to figure out why our explorer has been experiencing abnormal tire wear to the tune of about 10 replaced tires in ~2.5 year, with a new set of 4 today. At this point I'm assuming some...- cabrego

Remove rear knuckle
Did you figure it out yet? I just finished this job the other day. The knuckle is very easy to remove, the hub bearing required a shop press, and we had to cut off a section of the heat shield so we could remove it and make using the press easier. All 4 bolt holes were salvaged and everything...- cabrego

2016 Sport Steering Issues
So, the lower control arms were replaced? What exactly was wrong with them, that seems strange to me. Any advice on what to look for?- cabrego

Tow/Haul mode seems to give horrible gas mileage?!
We just purchased a 5x8 enclosed trailer and decided it would be best to use tow/haul mode even though the trailer was basically empty. I am guess the total weight is less than 1000 lbs. We drove about 300 miles or so and have noticed that our gas mileage was must worse than we thought it...- cabrego

Off Road Experience With 5th Gen Explorer !
Thanks for the info. The nastiest stuff I'd find myself in would be thick beach sand. I suppose clearance and the factory tires would be my biggest problem, I would also like to tow a trailer through sand too. In terms of driving through sand, is the deepest sand the truck can handle...- cabrego
