I replaced the cap first. It solved the problem for like a month. Then the light came on again. It is pretty easy to check if the filler tube needs replaced. A visual check not hard nor is running your hand over the tubes to see if you feel any holes or rust that may need further investigating.

I just had this issue. I replaced the Fuel Filler Tube. It wasnt that hard. And did it without jacking it up and taking tire off. It would have been easier. But at the time didnt have the means to do so. The lights went off and havent had an issue with it since.
