Getting rear differential rebuilt, Am I paying to much?
What parts should I ask are going to be replaced? Is it just inside the differential? I know nothing about trannys or rearends. Just the basic engine stuff and wiring- stingray

This price was quoted before they looked at it, I had a tranny shop determine the source of the whine but they didnt do work on anything other than transmissions. The rear also made clunking noises once in a while, I posted about it on this board in the summer Thread is here . As far as I know...- stingray

as far as I know Its a total rebuild of the differential, I do have limited slip. I know nothing about rear ends- stingray

Getting rear differential rebuilt, Am I paying to much?
My rear end started whining recently, before that it was thumping.. the shop I brought it to says it is 1,400 (including all labor) to have mine rebuilt. Is this the right price? Its a 98 XLT 4WD 6 cyl SOHC engine 91,000 miles I am located in NY Your input is appriecieated. I already...- stingray

repeated clunks in rear under acceleration
It does not clunk over bumps, only under acceleration. What I meant was the noise SOUNDS like your going over small bumps when excelerating on a smooth road. It also does not happen when brakes are applied... what I meant by my first post is: If I stand on the brake and rev up to halfway on...- stingray
