AC Vacuum Pump
Cranked up the psi and it worked, thanks. No whats the deal with the pressure staying at 19 in Hg after i disconnected the pump? Is it possible that the leak is so small it wouldn't cause air to come in it? I mean there has to be a leak since the system wasn't charged at all right? I...- dpom

AC Vacuum Pump
The vacuum pump instructions say a constant source of 75 psi is required and the pump will consume 4.2 scfm and will pull a vacuum of 29.7 in at sea level. The comressor says it does 6.6 scfm at 40 psi and 5.8 scfm at 90 psi I will try raising the psi and see what happens.- dpom

AC Vacuum Pump
I am doing my first AC repair on my 94 XLT. I hooked up the gauges and there was no pressure in the system. I attempted to pull a vacuum and the gauge only went to about 19 in Hg. After closing the thumb valve the pressure stayed there for 10 minutes. I wasn't totally convince the vacuum...- dpom

'92 X gear shifting cable broke
So I took a closer look at it and it seems that the shifter cable is falling off the arm on the steering column. I stick it on that ball but it keeps falling off when i shift. I tried putting a zip tie on it but that didnt work. Do I have to replace the arm or the cable or what?- dpom

Spare Tire Warning-----Fell Off at 70MPH
When my father owned my truck he lost the spare tire going into the East Boston tunnel. He just let it go, it's not like you can stop and get out. The cable and winch were still there, it was the end on the cable that rusted off. I have since bought a winch at a junk yard and a new spare...- dpom

IAC Valve on a 94 - question
yeah no CEL, and I actually replaced the battery when I was cleaning the IAC Valve so yes. Remember after the truck warms up for a few minutes it runs smooth, and when its having trouble idling on a cold start if you unplug the IAC valve the engine stalls right out - but the valve checked out...- dpom

IAC Valve on a 94 - question
I could install a new one but the problem happens only sometimes on cold starts. It would take a few days to know if it had solved the problem. I was just curious if someone could tell me why the rough idling happens only while the engine is cold.- dpom

IAC Valve on a 94 - question
My 94 XLT has rough cold starts. Once warm after a few minutes it runs great. After searching the forums it seems that my problem is a dirty or malfunctioning IAC valve. I cleaned the valve with electrical parts cleaner, but I stripped the two screws to take it apart so I just did my best...- dpom

Brake lines - My explorer is bleeding!!
I had the same problem on the other side, definite DIY. I replaced it myself and bled the brakes with my bro. I didn't bother dropping the gas tank though, I just routed the new brake line on the outside of the frame (is that dangerous?) The new line and compression fittings are really cheap...- dpom

Sounding like an idiot here but???
Same thing happened to me - I posted a thread with some pictures here I still haven't done anything about it - but I have decided that I won't be replacing the radius arms. Let me know how you end up fixing it and what it will cost.- dpom

Shocks replacement gone bad : frame repair needed
Shocks replacement gone bad I just decide to replace the stock shocks on my 94 XLT with 132k. I figured it was time. I bought 4 Gabriel Gas Ryder VSTs from Autozone for about $100 total. We sprayed PB blast on all the rusted fasteners. After about a half hour, (not long enough) we...- dpom

Holy Spark Plug!
I did my plugs today too... These have been in for over a year. I think the spacing on this one might be off. http://www.dpom.net/explorer/P1010002.JPG Should I worry about this piece in my cylinder? And how do you get that damn 6th plug off?- dpom

The phantom Auto-Hub rebuild kit
My 94 Ex's hubs are shot - When i try to engage 4wd i hear a clicking/grinding noise from the left front wheel. I have been searching this forum for an easy solution and have not been able to find one - I either replace the hubs with new autos or manuals - both are pretty expensive. It...- dpom

There must be a way to remove the green coating/plastic. Could I just rip them out and replace them with small pieces of blue celophane or plasitc? Then I wouldnt even need to buy new bulbs Any other ideas?- dpom

Converting Instrument lights to blue
So I just bought a new stereo that is backlit in blue and It really clashes with the stock green instrument lights. I plan on buying a blue backlit gauge cover but If i do I'm going to need to change all the lights on the dash to blue. I read a few posts on this and they seem to be very...- dpom
