Thanks for the reply transfer box was replaced 6 months ago, seems ok in 4x4 low & high seems to have more of a problem when car is hot after a days towing t.b.- darklord

Just got back of holls.....used explorer as usual to tow my t/a caravan up and down the M5 ,on the way down it developed a drone like a bearing or something more serious it just came on no gradual increase in sound,it appears to be coming from the rear but as with all sounds it can come from...- darklord

hi i have a heater problem on my 99 xlt the heater will blow hot or cold the fan will work on all speeds but the direction is always on the screen, an i right in assuming that it is the control knob ass that is at fault the one with the air pipes coming from it or am i looking completely in...- darklord

update on noise with the windows down driving slowly (the neighbours must think im mad) the noise sounds like a gear thats not quite engaged and is just rubbing on the teeth,cant pinpoint the source yet t.b.- darklord

happy new year everybody, just sorted the problem i had last year with the banging noise when under load ,un plug transfer box no noise , cure new transfer box (under warranty ) new problem is that i have a whining noise from 10mph upwards i know its not the transfer box as it did it before it...- darklord

rough idle / warning light help!
mines got the same problem the fault code reads lean mix on both left and right hand manifolds i have contacted my local ford dealer about the OOM12 kit ,he looked puzzled and said we never dealt with the explorer and said he could not supply one... does anybody know where to get one from...- darklord

auto 4x4
under load or under hard acceleration i get a banging rumbleing noise which seems to come from the front passenger side (uk car) when towing under acceleration the car seems to grip on only 3 wheels making it feel unsafe,the vibration can be felt at all speeds even at 30mph with cruse on.- darklord

sorry for the delay in updating disconected the transfer box electrics and i have no noise !!!!!!!!!!!! .great so it looks like carrying out the brown wire mod. but what is at fault ? transfer box motor or the electro clutch`s inside. thanks again t.b.- darklord

thanks for the reply the reason i ask is that i get a skiping banging noise when acelerating like the car is trying to engage the front wheels and struggleing for grip skipping t.b.- darklord

the noise was there before the lpg conversion was done when under heavy load the popping/banging can be felt through the floor of the car tony- darklord

thanks for the reply i have only driven the car for a short distance on a grassy caravan site in order to try and find the cause of the noise/vibration otherwise the car is left in auto.i have noticed that as the car gets warmer the noise/vibration gets worse tnanks tony- darklord
