not all the time but I wouldn’t go for a drive without hearing it at some point. Low speeds didn’t hear it much- Mbvette

So i just went to the tire shop. And well the tires are cupping the front suspension is shot. So now off to replace shocks and springs I guess. Thank goodness parts are so cheap on this thing. I’d go broke doing all this on the corvette.- Mbvette

Just finished changing the rear brakes no change in the noise. So I have one last option before the driveshaft comes out. Going to see if i can find time to get over to the tire shop and have them check the balancing of them to see if by some chance it’s tire noise. I just don’t buy that but...- Mbvette

Pulled all the wheels off this morning. I’m confident it’s not another wheel bearing. The front brakes look great. The rear pads look good but really nothing left on the rotors. So I’m going to replace the rear brakes and see if that fixes it. If this winds up to be brakes I’m going to be so...- Mbvette

Hmm brake pad I guess could be the problem. Is thinking of the noise. I’ve only checked the wheel I changed the wheel bearing on and it looked like an almost new pad. Guess I should take a quick look to see if is a pad dragging. I doubt it but I guess it’s possible.- Mbvette

Sorry for the back to back posts like this. So I did a test tonight not sure what it means if it means anything at all. If I put it in reverse and get the speed up the same noise exists. So I guess that means it’s not the tranny though I knew it wasn’t that. Once I hit about 5mph the sound...- Mbvette

Finished up the fluid change and it had nothing to do with the diff best I can tell. Same exact noises coming out. So I guess the driveshaft coming off is next. This would be better if it wasn’t 20* outside. I can’t fit the truck all the way into the garage and still work on it so I have to do...- Mbvette

So I opened up the front diff this morning for the fluid change. All looks good. Granted fluid was pretty nasty and some fine shavings which shouldn’t be a problem. Everything looks good. Spun the wheels while it was up all teeth look fine and am not hearing the noise while spinning the wheels...- Mbvette

I replaced front drivers wheel bearing. The noise what’s a noise similar to a wheel bearing and best I could tell the noise was coming from front driver. There was some play in the wheel so I went on my best guess. Took off the wheel bearing replaced the cv axle since the boot was badly torn but...- Mbvette

I had a small leak when I got it. It seems to have stopped lately. So I’m also kind of worried there is no fluid left in there. And yes a wheel bearing type noise. It’s cyclical like something going round and round grinding but sounds like it’s coming from under the driver area- Mbvette

What would be the signs of the needle bearings being out? So I drove around the neighborhood today. And I get no noise at all sitting still so it’s not the transmission. And the noise stays constant no matter if I’m straight or turning so I don’t think it’s wheel bearings. It’s either the...- Mbvette

Thanks guys. I think Im going to open up the diff and do a fluid change which will give me a look inside the diff to see if there are any glaring problems. But my other option is as you said to take out the front driveshaft and see if that fixes the problem. Does taking out the driveshaft...- Mbvette

hey guys first post over here I picked up a v6 05 mountaineer w/ about 175k miles as my winter car and it has been running fine with a slight grinding noise which I thought was a wheel bearing. Changed out one wheel bearing and realized it wasn’t that. The noise is coming from almost under the...- Mbvette
