Why I Hate My New 2006 XLT V6

when is it time to replace cam chain on the 4.0 sohc ?
i have over 220,000 miles on it and i wonder if the gears are steel or nylon ? do these chains need replacement or what . thanks- jerry989

High milage explorers?
1998 4.0 sohc with 220,000 miles . replaced the trans 10,000 mile ago rear u-joints twice , 2 times cam chain tensioners and the throttle body all under warranty- jerry989

220,000 miles on my 4.0 sohc v-6 . is it
time to change the cam chains ? or are they good for longer than this ? trans was rebuilt a while ago don't want to hasve to rebuild a blown engine with bent valves or a cracked piston . are the chaiun gears steel or nylon ?- jerry989

best shocks for a 98 explorer ?
am runnung monroe coilovers now , but they have started to leak ! after just 1 year ! so, whats a good replacement ? need the coilovers because i often carry a heavy load .- jerry989

is i a good idea to use the new semi synthetic >
auto tranny fluid on a 98 . i notice that the new explorers use the semi syn fluid and the change interval is 100,00 km . i've had the tranny rebuilt and it is time for a fluid change . on my old t bird i used semi synthetic fluid and the tranny lasted 450'000km with no troubles at all . worth...- jerry989

I just drove a 2002...
it will be very hard to lift the rear as the axles pass THROUGH THE FRAME ! to bad it looks and drives well , my buddy just bought one , i'm trying to get him off roading ! hah he might scratch it :-)- jerry989

Power & speed difference THAT noticeable going from 30s-31s?
thats funny i wemt from 235's to 31.50-10.5's and now my speedo is dead on ! go figure ? before the speedo was off by about 6 kph ford was cheating me on the warranty !- jerry989

Oil
you guys should learn don't listen to the oil comps my 90 t-bird needed supercharger oil changed every 30,000 miles my 92 tbird said from the factory , because of sythetic fluid NEVER NEEDS CHANGING . I PUT 200,000 ON THE 90 AND 450,000 ON THE 92 . I CHANGED OIL AND FILTER AT 22,000 KM , AND...- jerry989

Parttime/Fulltime/AWD
Re: ??Parttime/Fulltime/AWD?? part time 4wd is when it is 2 wd drive until you shift it to 4wd , fulltime is like the new explorers with the 6 cyl , it is in 2wd until it senses slip and then gives traction to the axle that has traction , there is a switch to lock it to 4wd so all axcles turn...- jerry989

any experience with the new bosch +4 spark >

Cold idle problem
had same problem , o rings on intake and new cam tensioners [fixed the problem . it's a free fix . if your dealer does not know this change dealers . mine fixed it on the first visit- jerry989

Help, Tranny Problem????
same thing happened to me >> [then i lost the 2-3 shift a week later . just had the trans rebuilt on warranty and it shifts better than when new . also it does not hunt around when going up inclines on the highway . they must have made some improvements because it shifts alot better than ever...- jerry989

MERCON V synthetic or conventional?

Cam ChainTensioner Replacement
had mine replaced >> [ at 58,000 km . it took 1 whole day . it broke on a trip to fla and drove it like that for 4,000 km before they had the parts to fix it . lots of noise but no damage . good luck- jerry989

Oil
oil changes [i have used synthetics and change every 20,000 , my old car had 450,000 km and no problems . i don't even use ANY oil between changes . it's my 3rd truck using synthetics and no problems yet at 185,000 km . [Edited by jerry989 on 10-22-2000 at 09:43 PM]- jerry989

i ran them > they did not last as long as my dunlops ,or have the same traction . try out dunlops they work very well in snow and mud , and they lasted me fo 70,00 miles , the tread was still good but the robber was cracking on the sidewalls . 7 years old it happens . the generals only lasted...- jerry989

i've used 31,10,5 15's for 1 year >>
and the thread below is crazy , move up to canada were lawsuits are rare ! the ford dealer installed the bloddy tires for me ! no complaints , allthough i have some about those flintstones that came with the truck !- jerry989
