    OHV v6 ..... any hope?????

I would definately do the exhaust system first. I do believe that the 4.0L with no internal modifications needs a little back pressure so I would go for a Single Exhaust with a dual outlet if that's what you like.

    Will I blow my motor?

Besides, you have to admit that the Ford Explorer has to be the second most un-expected SLEEPER ever. The first would definately be something like my brother's client's 454 minivan, but that's just way too much time on his hands.

    Will I blow my motor?

How many times do you see a Ford Explorer with a V-6 smoke a Mustang 5.0??? I never have. Plus, I am rebuilding the 4.0L, that's why I was thinking of putting nitrous in it. Wanted to get some times and didn't care if I blew the motor because soon it will be brand new. I race my truck, but...

    Will I blow my motor?

I like that answer much better. But, I really don't want to end up needing a new block as I bought this vehicle for gas mileage and daily driver. I have a 1983 Chevrolet Silverado with a 383ci roller motor that I built for nos, but decided not to put nos in it. I may put it into my truck and...

    Will I blow my motor?

Ok, my friend's dad just gave me a 500 hp two stage shot of nitrous... I've been looking and figured out that I can run it at 50 hp first shot and 65 hp second shot at the least. As I don't have any real cars (Yes, I mean real cars, GTO's, Chevelles, 80's Chevy Pickups, 442's, etc.) that need...

performance mods for a 4.0 ohv

If you want to do some amazing burnouts, get a garden hose near the road and just soak the road right where you're going to powerbrake. It's definately worth it, trust me :D

can i get 230hp at the wheels

Well, my Explorer is a 1 owner technically (My dad bought it brand new and it's still in his name even though it's mine). It has 206,000 miles on it now and the only things that have been replaced on it were the alternator first and the transfer case second. The transfer case had to be...

    Draining the power steering.

Well, I would just take the power steering fluid holder off (It's only like 6 bolts or less and some time) and replace the fluid with some good dot 3 fluid

can i get 230hp at the wheels

Anyways, my thinking is this, I'm looking at having a $10,000 1991 Ford Explorer running 15's (Maybe 14's if lucky)... I built an S-10 with my brother and for $7900 put into it we made it run 8.90's in the 1000 foot... That's alot better to me I think...

can i get 230hp at the wheels

It's amazing, this is sad... I love my explorer and want to do some work to it, but not performance wise a whole lot... I want it to be a low rider and maybe some forged pistons, aloy connecting rods, bigger lunati cam, and balanced and blue-printed is what my dad is giving me for christmas...

apten only reburning SCT chips now?

Umm.. I have a question, but please don't make fun of me, I'm stupid about cars 1986 and newer... What does reburn mean?? Is it kinda like flashing the bios on a computer? And, can you burn them to do differant stuff, like more power, or more economy and have a choice???

My new project! Aldive, you could help alot man

Oh, well I have a 1983 chevy silv. that I have a 434ci built up for it and I've taken the power steering pump completely off of it, and LOVE IT... I was just curious, lol

My new project! Aldive, you could help alot man

I'll do that, but also, I thought about taking the power steering belt off because I like non-power steering, makes the vehicle feel like a big go-kart in my opinion... Would my pump go out if I took the belt off? Or anything else bad happen?

My new project! Aldive, you could help alot man

Ok, my friend builds exhaust systems (including headers, but I don't have the money for those yet) so I have decided to have him build me one for his cost and some to boot... What should I have him build? I want the most gas mileage possible just to see how much I can get... It'll be a...

My new project! Aldive, you could help alot man

I'm making my own Open Air Intake as soon as I finish this reply! I figured out how, but until I get a conial filter, it'll be interesting looking... I'll post pics as soon as I'm done today... But, I was also wondering if something bad would happen if I took the muffler off and ran open...

My new project! Aldive, you could help alot man

Ok, I'll start by telling Aldive that I bow to the post of yours... The following is a list of modifications that have resulted in the mileage reported on my 99 4.0 SOHC: Mobil 1 5 w 30 synthetic motor oil Mobil 1 ATF in auto tranny ( a complete change ) Mobil 1 in the 3.73 rear end...

    Project: 20mpg 5.0 AWD

Wouldn't some bad stuff happen if you pulled the plug on a couple of injectors? That just seems like you would need to pull the gas plug to injectors and spark plugs to get rid of the compression wouldn't you? Plus, that would just make it a 4 cyl (or 6 cyl for v-8s), and, how bad would it be...

I'm new, so bear with me...

Ok, I have a 1991 Ford Explorer with the 4.0l and the auto tranny... I was wondering if there is any way I can lower it? I haven't really found any lowering kits or anything at all for it, plus I would love to get it performing alot better because I'm use to building hot rods and this isn't...
