That could be what the parts guy did. He wasn't gone long. But he mentioned measuring it. I never thought it was a thread pitch gauge. Any way I reused it and it's good so far.

I figured the guy didn't have the 45.00 to spend on one bolt. The machine shop must've billed me looking up the specs on this bolt. Either way mines fine for now.

They say no but I refused mine w/ no problems. Trick is take it to a machine and have it mic"d for length. If it isn't stretched reuse it.

Went to remove a stud and it broke about 1/4" below the surface of the head. It was the lowest rear stud on an explorer 4.0 engine. I've looked online and every one except for the 7.2? Ford are for GM vehicles. It's a simple plate or in my case like a piece of angle w/ a hole or two on one side...
