5 sp Rebuild
I think I am gonna tear apart the 5 Spd. I just took out of mine this weekend. I never took it back to get my core money back so if I can dig into it and replace the broken parts somewhat cheaply then I will have that "back-up" tranny!:D But I think I may have busted a lot of stuff up in mine...- Isotrip®

rear u-joint twisted in mid dounut celebration
A cheap 3/4" Socket works great for fitting over the U-Joint Bearing cap to beat on... Just prop up the Driveshaft over the opposite side Bearing cap and grab the BFH and whack away at that. Just a tip, remove the Snap Rings before beating out the Bearing caps. Also remember to pack the new...- Isotrip®

5 Spd. Tranny, ATF or Gear Lube??
Well I researched it a bit more and I have come to the conclusion that it is in fact a Mazda 5 Spd. After dropping the old tranny out this morning and comparing the two (Both had the F17A Code) they were both Identical. I drained the Gear Lube, Flushed it with Tranny Flush, and put in ATF. I...- Isotrip®

5 Spd. Tranny, ATF or Gear Lube??
Well my 5 Spd. tranny went out on my '92 X and I got a replacement from a used parts place (read: Auto Salvage) the replacement came out of a '91 Navajo. Anyways.. I got it home and I went to check the fluid level and it smells like there is Gear Lube in it instead of ATF. Now I was under the...- Isotrip®

V8 in a 92?
I seen a book while at my local 4x4 shop that dealt with the V8 Conversion in earlier Rangers and Explorers. I don't know what all this book entailed, or how detailed it was as I did not look at it. But if you are willing to make a long distance phone call I am sure that the guy running the...- Isotrip®

Finally, Pix of my "X"
RTStork: It is a 6" Lift by superlift with 33's on it, but the one drop bracket on the front was replaced this past summer due to it being weak. It was under a recall which is good, it was just a bummer that we had to replace it. But while we were at it we replaced the Superlift Shocks with...- Isotrip®

Hey if you find a picture of one can ya post a link for it? Or send me an email on it? My email addy is Isotrip@hotmail.com I guess I am not exactly sure what it is you are talking about unless it is what a lot of guys around here call a "Wrap" such as a "Tranny Wrap" or a "Diff. Wrap"...- Isotrip®

Common problems by year...
I have only had my Explorer for 2 weeks now but it was previously owned by my friend and he took really good care of it. 1992 Explorer Sport 4X4 SOHC 5 Speed. Problems I have found since owning it: Remote Mirrors do not work. (Not sure yet what the problem is) Rear wiper works when it...- Isotrip®

Wish I had LS
I have to agree I have a Limited Slip Differential with 4.56's and in the wet or on Ice it can be a bit of a ride if I "get into the TB with my foot". I can step the rear out quicker than anything and that can be a bit hairy in four lane City driving! Weeeeeeeeee...............Thump!- Isotrip®

Carnival Ride
Well I hope I do not sound like I am preaching or anything in my very first post on here, but you can add weight to the back of your X and have it help out some.
