Negative Battery Cable question
Neg Battery Cable From what I remember, the cable doesn't go all the way to the starter. It attaches to a bolt in the engine block. You can get to the bolt by going through the passenger side wheel well, unless they changed something between 92 and 94.- Blockay Sockay

93 2WD wont start
I have had this same sort of problem with my Explorer, except it had the symptoms I was asking about. I wiggled the negative (black) battery cable at the battery terminal and could get it to start every time. I cleaned the terminals and connection at the battery and it starts easily now. Try...- Blockay Sockay

93 2WD wont start
Sounds like a bad battery ground to me. Do all of your lights and electrical devices go off after the click, but come back on after a second or too after trying to start it? Check the battery cables.- Blockay Sockay

Hauling a Dirt bike?
Get one of these: http://www.motorcycleramps.com/motorcycle_carrier.htm. Kinda expensive though. My parents have a fold up trailer that we use. It fits in tight spots but can haul other stuff too, not just a dirtbike.- Blockay Sockay

3.73 limited slip axle ratio
The higher the number, the lower the gear; therefore, you'd get better take off power then mileage.- Blockay Sockay

RPM's too high... I think.
This website gives you what RPM you should be running at at a given speed with your gearing: http://www.quiknet.com/~ke6vut/rpmcalc.html . Assuming a 3.73 ratio (which is the lowest available for your year and would give the highest RPM at any speed) and a 0.75 overdrive ratio in the tranny...- Blockay Sockay

RPM's too high... I think.
200,000 RPMs  HOLY CRAP!!! But seriously it's only 2,000 RPMs and my Ex is at about 1,600 at 55 and I have 31" tires, so it doesn't sound like anything is wrong, unless it fluctuates at a constant speed. If anything is wrong it is probably the Torque Converter not locking up. I'm sure...- Blockay Sockay

what does 1st gen mean
1st Generations were the ones built from 91-94 (the first X's). 2nd Gen is 95-01 and 3rd is 02-present. Does your XLT have automatic hubs and a button on the dash for 4x4 or is it manual 4WD?- Blockay Sockay

BF Goodrich All Terrain tires
I've had mine for about 6 months now and have absolutely no complaints. I had Dunlop Mud Terrains before, and these do well in offroad situations with substantially better road manners. I hardly hear any road noise at all (compared to mudders). They are a good mix between an aggressive...- Blockay Sockay

Explorer Diesel SWAP
Powerstroke V6 I am a co-op at International Diesel in Huntsville, AL (where the V6 Powerstroke was supposed to be made for Ford before they backed out on it) and the 4.5L V6 is still going to be made, but put in International LCF trucks...- Blockay Sockay

Cheapest way to bypass a/c compressor?
My a/c compressor is messed up and I didn't want to spend more money to fix it after I had spent $500 replacing other parts of the A/C :thumbdwn: . I got a belt for a 92 without A/C at Autozone about 2 years ago and it's still working fine (except for being really hot inside the truck :fire: ).- Blockay Sockay

Hesitation/missing under acceleration
Is it bucking while under load, or is it just hesitating? My explorer used to buck really bad when it was under load. I had just replaced the spark plugs so I didn't think that could possibly be the problem. I checked all of my sparks plugs just to be sure and the foward most cylinder on the...- Blockay Sockay
