Looking to regain my SQ
I agree with everyone else. First turn down the bass boost on the amp, and if it is still boomy, then you may need a smaller sealed box for that sub to get the Qtc down. Here is a Qtc calculator if you know the sub's paramteres: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=30 As for a good...- Mustang5086

'02 X Speaker Depth
I have the eDi component set http://www.edesignaudio.com/edi.htm and the 6.5" driver has a mounting depth of 2.75 inches and I don't have a problem on my '02. I did however make an adapter to fit it in the 6x8 location, and the adapter adds another 1/2" worth of spacing. The taper on the...- Mustang5086

kicker l7 subwoofer ?
Your more than welcome. With the versitility in wiring configurations with dual voice coil subs, it is pretty much driving the single voice coil design out of the market. With two dual 2 ohm voice coil subs you would have the option of wiring them up for an overall resistance of 8, 2, or 1/2...- Mustang5086

kicker l7 subwoofer ?
Then you can get two subs with dual 2 ohm voice coils and wire the voice coils on each sub in series for an 4 ohm load on each sub. Then just wire your two 4 ohm subs in parrellel for a 2 ohm load.- Mustang5086

kicker l7 subwoofer ?
Just get a dual 2 ohm voice coil sub and wire the voice coils in series to get a 4 ohm load. Here's one at SoundDomain http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC04S12L72 It says that it is rated at 750 watts RMS.- Mustang5086

Audio Cables
I agree with B94Sport. Go with the KnuKonceptz cables. They are not only great cables, but you can't beat the price. KnuKonceptz's cables are the only ones I use anymore. Visit their web site at http://www.KnuKonceptz.com- Mustang5086

Install Finally Done!!!
I was going to mount the amps along the back of the seats, but I've found that I need to be able to fold the seats flat to haul stuff in the back (I miss my F150 that I sold to get the Ex.). So having the amps down in the cargo area, I can still fold my seats down and throw in some 2x4's or a...- Mustang5086

Install Finally Done!!!
I finally finished my stereo install in my 2002 Ex. after 3 months of working on it (with a new baby, dad doesn't have much free time :) ). Having a baby means that I wanted to be able to keep as much space in the back of my Ex. for the trips we take back home to see relatives (we live 500...- Mustang5086

Where do I put the subs
I bet with most setups you won't even notice a difference because the change is so small. I remember back about 5 years ago I had bought a Boston 12.5LF sub, and through together a box that was almost a perfect cube shape for it and put it in my car (replaced a Kicker Solobaric). I ended up...- Mustang5086

Where do I put the subs
Sub box volume is very important, but box shape is also. From the research I've done, I've found that a cube is the worst shape for a sub box, due to standing waves that can form inside the box at certain frequancies (thus causing cancelation at those frequancies). I'm only talking about...- Mustang5086

Favorite Sub? (Which is better?)
icu400, I did a quick search on Thiele-Small Parameters and this is what I came up with. I'm not sure if it's acurate or not, so take it for what it's worth. B Magnetic flux density in gap, in Tesla-meters (TM) BL The magnetic strength of the motor structure. C Propagation velocity...- Mustang5086

Favorite Sub? (Which is better?)
If you're looking for something that fits in a very small box, and is supposed to have very good sound quality, you might want to check out the eD 11Kv2. Right now they have a pre order going on for $80 per sub (scheduled to start shipping sub the first part of July). They are calling out a...- Mustang5086

Satellite radio is under attack
Here in centrall Illinois the local radio stations are doing the same thing. They are running about a 60 second ad with a bunch of people saying how satellite radio is bad, and that most people drop it right after they get it because they don't like it.- Mustang5086

Are Sony Decks good?
What's wrong with JVC? Over the past 4 years I've had a three of them in three different vehicles and have absolutely loved them. Maybe it's just the middle of the line ones that are bad. Two of the decks were their upper end models. The third is a middle of the road one, which isn't...- Mustang5086

What to do...
eD is having a pre-order sale on there new V2 subs. They won't be shipping until the first part of July, but if you can wait that long the pre-order savings are pretty big. I personally haven't heard the old eD's, but everyone I've talked to say they are great subs. I don't know of anyone...- Mustang5086

HU Shopping... help needed.
The last three head units I've run in the past few years have been JVC and in my opinion JVC has the best features for the $ right now (of course I've only run there upper end models). I just bought my last head unit a few months ago, and was reasearching everything from Alpine, Clarion...- Mustang5086

where can I get a good cap for a good price?
It doesn't have to be those particular ones, just something like it. I like the look of the plastic brackets a lot better than a couple of straps screwed down over the cap as a way of securing it.- Mustang5086

expo5.0, do you sell the mounting brackets separately? I've been looking for a nice set of brackets for a .5 farad cap I bought a bit ago.- Mustang5086

'02 Trans Slip When Cold Sometimes
Yeah, I took it in last week, and they still have it. The dealership can get it to reproduce the problem when cold, but they haven't figured out why it's doing it. My job is testing transmissions, but they are trannys on mining equipment, not little automotive transmissions. I don't know a...- Mustang5086

'02 Trans Slip When Cold Sometimes
It's been pretty cold here for the last week (highs in the single digits). Two times this week I've driven to work and the X is fine (I have remote start and let it warm up in the morning). About 9 hours later after I come out of work I jump in it and let it warm up for a minute or two and...- Mustang5086

'02 Factory radio removal?
Well, I got the stereo install kit from Crutchfields, but I'm sure you can get the wiring harness from Best Buy or Circuit City. The harness I have is a Metra harness, but there is no part # on it so I can't help you there. Here is a link with a picture of the harness from Crutchfield's web...- Mustang5086

'02 Factory radio removal?
The best advice I have for you is to try to use something with a wide blade. The first spot I pryed on bent the back edge of the plasic trim a little, but the trim is so deep that once it was pressed back in the dash you couldn't even tell where the mark on the back edge was. I was kind of...- Mustang5086

'02 Factory radio removal?
The black trim piece around the radio with the climate contol knobs just pops off. There are 6 clips that hold it on. However, the clips are extreamly tight, so it takes a lot of pulling or prying. I had a pair of short pry bars (4" and 6") that I stuck in any pryed out with carefully, just...- Mustang5086
