High milage explorers?
Guess I'm getting a late start on this message, but what the hell. I'll feel better. 1992 EB Explorer, 173,000 miles, original engine. ~Replaced: Front brake calipers Front brake rotors Front brake pads (about a thousand times) Engine fan Radiator hoses hmmmm.... Thermostat Fan belt...- trent

will 31/10.50 fit
Funny, mine has 170K+ miles and badly sagging rear springs, and the 31's fit fine (just got 'em last week). Say, does anyone know a cheap solution to that driver side sag? I'm installing longer shackles, but I think that will only lengthen the problem (literally). I don't really want...- trent

will 31/10.50 fit
I have a '92 4-door with 31x10.50s, and they fit fine with plenty of room. But, the place where I got them installed offered to "test fit" one on the front to make sure. Trent- trent

Front supension problems
Funny story with a point: I bought a used vehicle recently (ok, it's a Jeep, I admit), and it had a REALLY bad shake starting at about 55mph. First thing, took it to the tire shop, the guy pulls the front wheels and removes one of the tires to find about 2 cups of dirt and several hickory nuts...- trent

Revolver shackles?
Ray & Rick~ I figured they didn't make one for the Explorer, to my knowledge they only make them for Jeeps. I thought that perhaps the Jeep one would work, you would just have to drill out the hole a tiny bit (there's some other post around here about using Jeep Wrangler lift shackles on an...- trent

Revolver shackles?
Ok...here goes another long shot idea of mine. Does anyone know a reason why I couldn't install a pair of Metal-Made-Right Revolver shackles on the rear of a late-model Explorer? I know, I'd need longer shocks and brake lines/cables, but is there any reason it wouldn't work? They only add about...- trent

Safari Roof Rack
I have a Garvin Industries Wilderness rack, and I believe the roof would crush to the frame before it would bend. It's VERY stout. Pretty heavy though, weighs about 60 lbs. Pretty pricey, too, some of their racks are $400+ (I got mine used). I guess it's just a personal preference. I use mine to...- trent

To rebuild, or not to rebuild, that is the question...
Anyone out there have experience with rebuilding their Explorer's engine? I am just curious, I fear mine is on it's last leg (175K miles, no power, oil leaks, etc). My options are: rebuild the engine, possibly adding a few performance goodies; buy a rebuilt long-block engine and not afford any...- trent

The cheap way of lifting...?
Ok, ok. I found the Warrior shackles at Desert Rat, $40. I STILL haven't found any coil spring spacers. I tried a net search, I tried calling companies, nothing. I would go with the 1.5" kit from Rocky Mtn, but I don't really care anything about dissasembling a spring pack myself, I wanted the...- trent

anyone ever flipped
Another off-the-mark subject, but I have seen a Jeep Wrangler flip end over end at around 50 mph. Sadly, it was my own Jeep, although I wasn't in it. The driver, who was the only person in it, suffered multiple broken ribs, blunt abdomen trauma, 2 broken vertebrea in their back, and numerous...- trent

Help me out w/ a grill guard guys
In contrast with Seth, I like the Smittybilt guards because of their low cost and easy shipping. I'm getting the Smittybilt modular Bumper Thumper for mine, it's going to come to around $190 plus shipping for the grill and headlight guards. But, I'm also getting black, and I'm going to weld it...- trent

The cheap way of lifting...?
Since almost every place I have checked act like I'm nuts when I ask for a coil spring spacer, what are the dimesions of one so I can have my own made? And what is the best material? Just plain steel stock? I wonder if it would it be possible to get one made out of high-density rubber, like a...- trent

Bigger tires on old, "tired" vehicle
I have a '92 EB 4-dr automatic with 170K miles. So far, nothing major has been replaced or rebuilt (if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?). Here is my question: would moving up to 30x9.50 tires put too much stress on the drivetrain and sap power from the engine, or would the change even be...- trent

The cheap way of lifting...?
I am new to the Explorer thing and I still think in a Jeep state of mind, so bear with me. I was wondering if anyone makes an extended shackle for the rear of an Explorer, and if this could be paired up with those cheap-o rubber spring spacers in the front for a REALLY cheap, shoddy, and...- trent
