A SHO faster than a Z06, Shelby GT500 AND a GTR!?!
No doubt, in hindsight you could probably cut down on the costs a little, and also add a little speed. LW wheels and brake components will help a lot on the 60' time, and that translates to quite a bit in terms of ET. Your current products would probably make things a lot easier too...- jran76

A SHO faster than a Z06, Shelby GT500 AND a GTR!?!
A comparable S4 is about $10k more than an SHO. As I mentioned above, for less than $6k, it can do a sub-11.5 in the 1/4-mile. Also as mentioned, I don't know how much they have in the SHO (that they admitted took a lot of effort), but I'd guess it's at least $16k. If you took a SHO and S4...- jran76

A SHO faster than a Z06, Shelby GT500 AND a GTR!?!
You keep comparing it to stock vehicles and magazine numbers. I know of at least a few RS7's that have done 11.4 or better completely stock. There are a bunch of tuned/modified S4's in the 11.4-11.5 range, and it can be done with $6k in mods. I don't know how much exactly you have in the SHO...- jran76

A SHO faster than a Z06, Shelby GT500 AND a GTR!?!
Mixed feelings about this, but obviously I'm biased. It is impressive, but I'd personally rather spend the same amount of cash for an Audi S4 that will do basically the same thing with a lot less work involved (actually a hair faster). Either way, it goes a long way to show what this motor is...- jran76

Performance sport14
Maybe the turbos will support that much on paper, but it will take a lot in supporting mods to get them there. Rods and a built block are a good start, and LMS's testing should give you an idea as to what the block is capable of. I just think to get into 10's you need 700 HP give or take a...- jran76

Performance sport14
It's going to take a lot more than $8k to get into the 10's on an Explorer Sport. My guess is mid-12's is the best you'll see for that type of budget. What $8k gets you (FBO basically): Custom tune- $600+ Downpipes and exhaust- $2000+ Plugs+t-stat- $200 MAP sensor- $100 Turbos- $2200+ Meth...- jran76

Ford Explorer SPORT vs Audi S4
The S8 is a beast for sure. There is also a lot of room for more power with a tune (up to 700 hp or so). Probably not a roadcourse car, but a pretty sweet highway cruiser (although I am still impressed with what the Explorer Sport can do on the highway when needed with a stab of the...- jran76

Ford Explorer SPORT vs Audi S4
Cool. You can do a lot more to the S4 (I have), but there are diminishing returns past those things (and intake is probably a good idea too). In cooler climates, you can get by without the cooling kit, but the car will get heat soaked pretty easily after a few passes. AWD+launch control is a...- jran76

Ford Explorer SPORT vs Audi S4
I have both, and well, yeah, it's not close. My modded S4 can do as many high-11 second 1/4 mile passes in a row as you want. With a pulley, tune, and cooling system, they are pretty consistent low-12 second cars. Probably not the most reliable car (I've had no issues, but....), and Audi...- jran76

Did you pass on the Sport, but still want the performance?
I don't doubt what you are saying at all, and even said as such in my post. However, that doesn't mean a vehicle can't have a powertrain/drivetrain related failure in stock or tuned form. In the case of tuned vehicle, the owner needs to be prepared to assume that risk. Every car I have...- jran76

Did you pass on the Sport, but still want the performance?
It's not going to void the warranty all together, but if you have a failure related to the engine tuning or increased power, I think you at least need to be prepared for Ford to deny coverage for that specific item. There are still some unknowns as to what Ford (or any manufacturer) can see...- jran76

Dealer Service with Tune
They don't typically look for things like tunes unless there is a warranty claim that could be related to such. Most Ford dealers are pretty good about this. With that said, I would expect that to change in the near future. Audi already scans most cars that come in for service, and flags it...- jran76

Beat a silly Q5, but is my Trans about to break??
The Q5 comes in a lot of varieties from peppy to damn fast for a SUV. A SQ5 is definitely faster than even most tuned Explorer Sports (low to mid-13's 1/4 mile). A stock Q5 with the supercharged 3.0 (TFSI), is on par with a stock Explorer Sport (low to mid 14's 1/4 mile). A tuned SQ5/Q5 can...- jran76

Aftermarket wheels
You are not going to damage the transmission. There are only two things you could have issues with. The differential on an AWD vehicle, and the traction control system on all newer vehicles. In general, if you can keep the rolling diameter within 1-2%, it should be OK (I don't recommend it...- jran76

Replacment PCM/Engine/Vehicle Main Computer
I am sure it is possible, but likely more difficult than it was in the past. The vehicle immobilizer is usually tied to the ECU, and usually only allows 1 ECU to be coded to a vehicle (keys) at a time. In all likelihood there would be some programming required to go back and forth between...- jran76

Rhino liner??? Thoughts please!!!
Have you actually gotten a quote for the Rhino liner? 1/4 Mile Run Times
If your runs were on 8/22/14 at 9:22pm, your DA was around 280. That's pretty good. Lower the better, and anything within a few hundred points of 0 is pretty negligible. 0 would indicate the conditions are not impacting your performance one way or another. For reference, I've been to the...- jran76

Painting bumpers and trim
There are a few people on here that have had it done. At most shops it seems to run in the $1200-$2000 range depending on the color and quality. One person reported getting a hook up for $800 from a friend. The trim needs to be removed, and you want a quality job since it is one of those...- jran76

New Explorer sport
I imagine a very small percentage of people would sell their cars with the tune still installed given the option to sell the device separately. If you plan to, no worries with the LMS. The other advantage of the SCT is that it can be "unmarried" from the vehicle, and sold once/if you are done with it. With the Lund or LMS, it cannot be resold later on. Once installed on your car that is pretty much it (there are some possible ways around this, but not easy ones). The LMS is...- jran76

Stock is 2 bar, so you'll max out in the 15 PSI range depending on your ambient pressure. That is right at the high end of what tunes can offer, so if you plan to try and extract the absolute most power out of the Sport, a 3 bar is recommended. If all you plan to do is run the out of box tune...- jran76

OK.... The springs on modern cars are much different than what was used "forever" ago. Ok, good enough then. Thanks again. For $60 or whatever it is, I'll probably go with it just for the extra safety margin. I wish Audi parts were this cheap. I paid $4500 for my tune, pulley, intake, and coolant system for what probably equates to similar gains.... Crazy.- jran76
