Soft Ride Lift
The overload spring is on the bottom of the leaf pak. If anything it would do nothing. Since it sits on the bottom of the bottom of the leaf pak, and the leaf pak is mounted under the axel. The overload spring does'nt touch the axel at all. The rear axel sits on to of the leaf springs. But the...- mark@orw

Soft Ride Lift
Pat, if your front coils are sagging, and you install a coil spacer they will sag even more. Coil spacers and tension to the front coils and cause them to wear quicker than usuall. Coil spacers ae not all than good of a solution to a sagging front end. If you want to get an inch or so, MOOG...- mark@orw

Soft Ride Lift
Hey Pat, Mark @ ORW here. Well, this could go on and on. Everyone has their own opinions on what rides good and what rides "soft". Any aftermarket spring is gonna' firm it up. There are no spring mfrs that make a truly "soft" spring that will hold up under abuse. They term it "Softride" because...- mark@orw

WHAT SHOCKS?
Hey Pete, Sean, Mauiboy, etal... The triple kit he's referred to is made by my favorite and yours, Trailmaster. They WILL fit with some playin' around, but won't take much of a beating. They were basically made for show and light off-roading. They never thought anyone would build a 'prerunner'...- mark@orw

Trailmaster '98-'00 update...
Hey Ray, Mark here. Just wanted to let you know of the 'problem' with the Trailmaster sliding rack system in your Exporer. The bind you feel in the steering is due to the extremely close tolerences in the shaft and the bronze bushings they use inside the sleeve. If you have it taken apart and...- mark@orw

Rancho Shocks Worn Out?
Nope, yellow's it buddy, Bilstein's trademark color. Let me know when you're ready to do it and I'll get a hold of my boys at Bilstein to see how far along they are...Mark- mark@orw

Rancho Shocks Worn Out?
Hey Goober. We've got the front ones from Bilstein and they ARE working on the rears. For the Rangers, they have the rear ones for the 4WD with up to 2" add-a-leafs. Right now, you can get away with running the OE replacements in the rear, but you'll sacrifice a little down travel obviously. If...- mark@orw

Rancho Shocks Worn Out?
Hey Scott, Bilsteins are the best money can buy. As long as you get the right shock. They're working on shocks for lifted applications but at the moment don't have a shock for the rear of the Explorers unless you do spring over in the rear as the mounting lengths don't change then. If you've got...- mark@orw

Rancho Shocks Worn Out?
Well guys, I'm gonna' put MY two cents in here. On shocks, a lot of considerations come into play, ie; vehicle weight, wheelbase, track width, lift type, spring rates, shocks per wheel, and what size tire and wheel you're running. It all comes down to kind of a simple guideline, for me anyway...- mark@orw

Any of you run the Skyjacker lifts
Hey HIX, they're both great kits, just depends on what you'll be doing with your Ranger. I had the Skyjacker Stage II on mine and I worked it extremely hard, on my Explorer also and never had the problems I've encountered and heard about with the Superlifts. My opinion? Skyjacker's done their...- mark@orw

will it fit?
Hey PDOG, Mark here again. Company named Fierce-Off-Road makes some bars and skid plates for a bunch of different vehicles. They're supposedly working on the Explorers I've been told. Check the link below to get an idea of what they look like and get their # off the site and give 'em a call...- mark@orw

Hey again PDOG. You are looking for a front plate yes? Something to go from the bumper to the crossmember? There's a few companies making 'prerunner bars' with a skid plate. Let me know...Mark- mark@orw

will it fit?
Yo PDOG!!! Actually the rear springs are the same in design, but way off in dimensions. The Ranger springs are quite a bit longer (12.5" actually) than the Explorer springs. Skyjacker has replacement springs for 'em that have close to OE rate and handle great. As for the skid plate...- mark@orw

Help with lift, PLEASE!
Well, if you go with a 2.5" you'll be able to run 31x10.5's on an 8" wheel. If you want to go with 32's and you're gonna' actually use it on the trail, then a 4" is a must. I'd definitely recommend longer radius arms, whether Rancho, Skyjacker, Duff or Superlift. They make the geometry of your...- mark@orw

Trailmaster '98-'00 update...
I hear ya', I don't blame anyone for doing other than waiting for this kit to come out. I've got Ranger kits shipping to Australia and Brazil, Japan and Germany for people to install on their Explorers. Kind of a scary proposition, going that far around the globe not knowing how it would end up...- mark@orw

Trailmaster '98-'00 update...
Wow, just read almost all the posts here and it did get a bit off course, but isn't this what a forum is for? Just thought I'd throw my two cents worth in there. The Trailmaster kit won't be too much longer. I'm told they have all the components and are inventorying as kits and all that would be...- mark@orw

Shock Trouble
Hey Brent. You can actually adjust the position to a certain degree on the rear swaybars on the Exporers. There's no way to completely stop it unless you pull it off and an Explorer with no rear bar is much worse than one with the rear and no front front bar. Is it still in the stock...- mark@orw

Skyjacker 6" Lift
Hey... Most of the time there's a problem with a brake line snapping or bursting, it's due to either poor installation or the line slipping through the ties or not tied at all and breaking at suspension full extension or when cranking the wheels and the tires grab the line and yank it at an...- mark@orw

Hey Chris, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I'm pretty busy in the last few days. Yes, I completely agree with you about the waste of the extension that comes in the kit. Problem IS, noone has an extension for the '95 & later models yet. I doubt they'll ever really put it on paper...- mark@orw

to those who have done body lifts...........
Hey guys, to answer Rod's question, no, you won't need brake lines. The lines coming off the master cylinder are coiled up and are about 24" too long for the specific reason that Ford, and all other mfrs for that matter, left that 'play' in the lines so if the body had to be raised to do any...- mark@orw

Texans Please Help
Hey guys, Mark @ ORW here. I'm not into interferring on anyone's forum, but for reasons of prudence am going to here. I wouldn't go into this thinking it's gonna' be a quicky, this is a '97 Explorer, for which the body lift isn't made first of all. Second is the fact that almost ALL the trim...- mark@orw
