    Why BOSCH plugs not rrecommended

Ceramic failure in x4 I was tuning up my 91 due to rough idle, missing, general yuk, and purchased a new set of x4. When I pulled out the right set, all three had shattered ceramic and almost no electrode. They had 60k. Thought long and hard about the new set, but slapped them in. I was not...

    TOPO USA v4.0

Anyone want to split a full version of Topo USA by Delorme. I have 2.0 and would like to buy the new one out in April. It is $100 for all 5 areas, or $20 each if I can find someone who wants CA-OR-WA-AK, MT-CO-ID-WY-UT, GREAT LAKES, MA-WV,FL-AR. Just my little AZ is $50.

Out with the old, In with the new...engine

I had posted for opinions on an engine replacement for my 91 4.0. I went with a 96 Aerostar 4.0 with 13k miles vs reman. The blocks are the same, but that is about it. I left the injectors and fuel rails in place and will be adding my intake and sensors. I had to give up the low oil...

    HELP - ?? 13k used or new reman 4.0l ??

My 91 4.0 has conquered its last mountain and now R.I.P. in the garage. I found a 96 4.0 Aerostar motor with 13k for $1400. Should I get it or a reman for $1600. For the reman I would have to use my own 10 year old , 150k mile sensors FI, and manifold and stuff. What do you guys think??

Carb cleaner or Brake cleaner? - Can we get together on this!

If brake cleaner was just used on the filaments, then dried completely, the would be none of the cleaners' chemicals added to the intake. Anyone that has used brake cleaner for over a year care to relate their outcomes??

Carb cleaner or Brake cleaner? - Can we get together on this!

I have been cleaning my MAS with O2 sensor safe carb cleaner to relieve a pinging for 2+ years with a K@N drop in filter. I then purchased the KKM and a SuperChip. The oil in the KKM filter loads up the MAS filaments 2+ times faster than the K@N drop in. It works but I can only go two months...

    3.73 and 32s

I have 32" AT's on my 1991 with stock rims. I get 18 on the highway and 16+ around town with the a/c running. I don't mind the loss so much do to the added clearance and look.

    Air Intake

The rubber 2" to 3" fits over both the intake and the MAF very tight in my test fitting. It seems perfect, the 2" is streched and mounted deep enough to lead the 3" right up to the hole. I'll finish it up tomorrow. Should only be 90 or so at 6am.

    Air Intake

I tried the 3" piping, but it was way to big for my 1991 TB and MAF inlet. They do not have a 2.5" at the local Lowes. I will try to fit the 2" to 3" rubber boot over the inlets and use 3" pipe to connect. How was moving the battery to the airbox location?? That is next. Please email if...

Air Conditioning - Not So Cool

The R-12 is $60/# and $30 to have a tech put it in ($90+). And I especially enjoy the 3 hour wait in the tiny dirty waiting room with Opra on the tube. The R134 is $4/# and the kit for the DIY kit is $16($20+ the first time, $4 thereafter) And I especially enjoy the 3 hours spent in my...

Ford Orders Second Emergency Stop Sale on Escape in Less Than One Week

Looks like they continue to overthunk the engineering. I have been blessed with my 91 Explorer and am living large on borrowed time from all the major components, but cursed with a 1995 DEATHstar. I am afraid to take the van on the road. Of course I purchased it before I read all the recalls...

    Hedman Headers

I was a two time looser on those cardboard gaskets. Just got some alum backed gaskets from Checker and put them on last night - along with the KKM and the Chip. I forgot how anoying the leak sounded until it was gone. I RTV'ed the block side of the gasket - I do NOT want to do this again...

    SUPERCHIPPED!

I am also chiped as of my lunch at noon. I pulled the computer and chipped it in the 110 degree heat. I used the acidic sweat dripping from my forhead to clean the conacts. Pinged all the way back to work on the tank of reg gas. Put in 1/2 tank of super 92 to soup it up a bit. A thank you...

OverHeat?, A/C Not cold?, Trans Fluid boiling?

I put in a new 2 core radiator and I was shocked and a bit appaled at the gunk between the Transmission cooler/condenser/radiator. I had a leaky cooler tube and I thought I was keeping it kinda clean. But Holy Gunkpile Batman!!. If your truck exhibits any of the thread symptoms, take an...

    Superchips custom programming

I think it was -> no more than the $125 if you choose to get the chip first, then intake/exhaust mods, then send the chip back for the reprogramming ( at $125). I ordered the stock chip, even with the exhaust stuff in mine. I guess I'll just have to do a few runs through the AZ Mountains...

    Will 95 or 96 4.0 engine fit 91

Maybe you should have gotten a smaller boat! ;> Would you be better off just pulling the entire motor ( if low mileage) and sticking the whole thing in with the computer and all? They should send along the whole harness if you go long!? The OHC in the 1995 is more better on the HP and...

    Install 3" body lit kit

Replace the original body pucks at the same time. I have the 3" body lift. I installed it in 3 hours with my 5 year old helping. Then spent 6 hours trying to get the bumpers lined up. I picked up an electric impact wrench at Harbor Freight for $60. That took 2 hours off my install time...

Hey Rick - something in Arizona sometime?

Going out this weekend with my sideways drivin', mud eatin', plain crazy jeep drivin' buddy. Maybe the coke oven or box canyon run. Smokin hot already so I need to get them under my belt before 100 hits. Camp out Friday and hit the trail early. I have a pig tag, so my bow will be riding...

    For those with Headers

I installed mine two weeks ago. The only problem I had was getting the cat bolts off.
