NOS kit question
I have nothing against dry kits but love my wet kit to death. The extra safety measure of added fuel has saved me a couple of times. Edit: Ooops. I'm not running the kit on the Explorer though.- takimanpgt

First Gen Probes??
You definitely can. The fastest of all generations is a first gen turboed Probe, which ran a 11 sec pass this past Summer. Ofcourse it had a built motor, upgraded turbo, engine management, etc. You don't have to go so far. Just make sure the engine is fine. Upgrade the IC piping, exhaust piping...- takimanpgt

ranger egp egr egwtf troubles
You could always take the EGR valve out, clean it with a petroleum based cleaner and throw it back in. There's ought to be a heckuva lot of gunk in that thing at 196k miles.- takimanpgt

cheap fix for '94 Probe
You might be better off buying an used engine for that price and throwing it in there. An engine rebuild kit will run you $300 or so, IIRC. Check www.importperformance.net or www.flatlanderracing.com for some pricing. If you need help with the car, holla back and I can help you get in touch with...- takimanpgt

all I did was change the T-stat
I replaced the thermostat on my '93 a couple days ago and that 1 bolt was a PITA. I almost had two swear jars full by the time I got that one in. Felt a little crooked going in or it could have been my imagination since it had been so long in going in. heh. FWIW, the wrench and flexible ratchet...- takimanpgt

Knocking from engine.
I did a little more looking around tonight and the sound is definitely from the bottom of the engine. I just can't pinpoint to where I can definitely say the bearings are shot. Question: How hard is it to open the pan up and replace all the bearings from under the truck?- takimanpgt

My Christmas present to myself.
Thank you. :) My first day with it and I had to learn how to tow. :D All was good for the trip home. I gave it some TLC today. Probably some more this weekend when I can really get down under it. I have to clean up the underbody and the interior a little bit. And I hate owners who don't even...- takimanpgt

My Christmas present to myself.
I just bought this '93 XLT auto and found this great forum site. Not even a few days old and I am already learning so much about the Xplody ( as I lovingly address it ). The car on the trailer is my other car.- takimanpgt

Knocking from engine.
The noise happens only when the engine is revved while in park/neutral. Once I start driving, I can't seem to hear anything.- takimanpgt

Knocking from engine.
I recently bought a '93 XLT with 131k miles on it. I hear a knocking from the engine while in park @ 2500-3000 RPMs. It goes away at idle and at higher RPMs. I have searched and read up on lifter tap, rocker noises, etc and being new to the OHV concept, am finding it hard to pinpoint the noise...- takimanpgt
