Glacier991, you do bring up a very good point. My questions: Will a problem in the transfer case flash the O/D light? Is it physcally possible for the transfer case to fail such that only "REVERSE" is affected? Does anyone have an exploded schematic of the transfer case?

Ok this morning I reset the computer again. Jack up rear axle and rolled both tires freely both directions along with driveshaft. Jacked up the front, rolled both wheels freeley along with front driveshaft. While all four wheels are on the ground I was still unable to roll it backwards...
