No O.D. A4LD
Sorry for asking a question before I looked for an answer on my own. According to the Haynes manual, the VSS, (located on the trans itself) also controls the speedo reading. Is it possible that the VSS is going but not gone, or is it just this one aspect of the VSS isn't functioning right?- DeMo8361

and where might one find this VSS that you speak of? I have an ATSG on the way, but until it arrives, I'm still clueless......as for mods you can make to your trans, I had thought about putting in a shift kit and a better torque converter, (like I did on my Chevy 160,000 miles ago with no...- DeMo8361

No O.D. A4LD Update Now I'm confused....butt good Haven't had OD since I bought the truck 2 weeks ago. After checking the fluid level, I discovered that it was full, but somewhere between pink and brown. Changed the filter and put in fresh fluid. 48 hours later, O.D. worked for about 30...- DeMo8361

I just bought this '92 XLT and for the most part, I love it. However, overdrive isn't kicking in. I changed the fluid and filter, still nothing. It goes through all the other gears great, just no O.D. Any advice before I take it in would be appreciated. '92 XLT 167,000 miles- DeMo8361

No offense, but if you put silicone in the boots, it's no wonder they don't want to come off. For openers, dielectric grease, aka tune up grease, wont turn into a glue like substance when it cures due to the fact that it's grease and not rubber. I hope you just mispoke.- DeMo8361

What you may want to do is put a goober of dielectric grease inside the boot of the new wires (both ends). It will seal out crud, water, and make it a lot easier to get them off next time- DeMo8361

Body Lift Difficulty?
I'm looking for someone to tell me how difficult installing a 2-3" body lift is to do yourself. I'm good with a wrench, but I have never attempted it. Is it like a weekend, or more like a week?- DeMo8361

Stupid Code ?
Thank You. The explorer I just got is a '92, and the door tag says '91. It has a ton of miles, (167,000) anything special I should be careful of? The guy gave me a receipt for the MAF, fuel pump, starter, and power steering pump. I understand the lower intake bolts are prone to working loose...- DeMo8361

Stupid Code ?
I have one friend of mine who says my '92 XLT that I just bought will spit out 2 digit codes and another telling me 3 digit codes. I haven't bought a scanner yet, and I need these two clowns to quit arguing. Anybody?- DeMo8361
