    Thanks for the input. Seems like the 5.0 is the way to go. How much of the wiring harness will need to be screwed with if I use a 5.0 from a later model explorer.

    I have a 94 XLT 4.0 V6 (OHC). I'm toying around the idea of putting in a 289 instead of rebuilding the 4.0. Does anybody have any input on the idea. My assumption is, if I need to pull my 4.0 to fix it, I should just upgrade it to the v8. Overall what I would like to accomplish is a simple...
