Heat's not hot
Don't take this wrong, but if the fluid in the rad is low, then you will only get warm air. Your post says you checked a lot of things, but sometimes the simple ones get overlooked.- victorb

Skrewy brakes
I had a very similiar problem on my '92. Turned out the rubber grommit on the vaccuum line where it goes into the brake booster was hard and cracked. After shutting off the truck, I could hear a hissing sound as the vaccuum leaked. Good luck! Vic- victorb

100,000 Mile Club
My 92 XL has turned over 408,000 Kms. (about 255,000 miles). I told my son he can have it when it hits 500,000! Probably before the year is out. Still original engine and trans, although I did have to have some trans work done on it about 100,000kms ago and I have replaced the intake manifold...- victorb

vibration when accelerating
HI, I had just about the same problem. There was a distinct power loss first, then, as soon as the truck drops back into ovewrdrive and is under load, a nasty vibration and the Tach goes grazy. pinging/oil loss/bad mpg
Brad, I, too, had the same problems you are discribing. The oil loss, pinging and lower than usual milage. I replaced the intake manifold gasket(s) and am now a happy camper. I have a '92 XL 4X4, 4.0Litre pushrod engine with 230,000kms. There is a kit available for the intake gasket...- victorb
