Sway Bar Recall
You should be able to. The word I got is that it pertains to 1995 through early 1997 Explorers. I took mine in on Nov 15th and got both links replaced. No charge. Just remind/inform them of the notification. I was also informed that I needed a new drive shaft. What the hell, over? I've...- Axel Fernandez

how the hell
For an 8" lift you will definetly need longer drive shafts. To run those big meats you should also upgrade your axles. New gears are a must. Once you go SOA there are a number of different combinations that you can use to yield the required lift. Lift blocks were mentioned earlier. You...- Axel Fernandez

Lift springs
Do you still have your old spring pack? If you want to upgrade from the 4" (SUA) to a 5.5" (SOA) I would imagine your best bet would be to use your original spring pack. They're the ones intended to be used with that particular lift kit. 4" springs located over the axle will give you way more...- Axel Fernandez

Sway Bar Recall
It's "Owner Notification Program 00M11 for 1995-1997 Explorer/Mountaineer vehicles Additional Coverage Program for sway bar links." A print-out that I obtained from the dealer states that vehicles previously repaired, prior to October 19, 2000 only had one sway bar link replaced. It further...- Axel Fernandez

Sway Bar Recall
Be advised, I did a preliminary check of my Explorer before a recent trail ride and discovered that the passenger side of my sway bar was disconnected. After a short visit to the local Ford dealer I discovered that there is a recall addressing that particular problem. I was told that the...- Axel Fernandez

Straight Axle Conversion
Just thought I'd let you know about my latest finding. I was looking at an ad for National Tire & Wheel (www.ntwonline.com) and found a Straight Axle Conversion kit that's being offered by a company called FABRITECH. The conversion is offered for 90-94 Explorer's, 83-97 Ranger's, and 80-96...- Axel Fernandez

Custom Bumper/Safari Bar
Check out Kennesaw Mountain Accessories @ Dead Link Removed. I was looking for a solid bumber with a spare tire carrier to move my spare out of harms way. I got turned on to Kennesaw Mountain Accessories from an old issue of Four Wheeler Magazine. I did not purchase one so I can't recommend...- Axel Fernandez

largest tires on 3" lift
You own a 1993! Take it from me, save your money, and purchase a quality suspension lift. I know that's probably not what you want to hear but you're better off doing it right the first time. There are alot of variables to consider. The Baja Claws you are suggesting cost around $150 each and...- Axel Fernandez

Spring Over
You can only perform a spring over axle in the rear of your Explorer. You already have 6" of lift so I really don't thing you need it. Unless you do alot of moderate to hardcore four wheeling I wouldn't suggest it. The rule of thumb is that a spring over will lift your vehicle the width of...- Axel Fernandez

Spring Over
After further consideration, I remembered that Superlift offers a 5.5" lift for Explorers. The kit contains everything you need to perform the spring over axle in the rear. It retains your factory spring pack. If your Explorer squats in the rear, as many tend to do, the extra 1.5" may even...- Axel Fernandez

Straight Axle Conversion
I own a 1996 Explorer XLT. Has anyone ever attempted to performed a straight axle conversion on their explorer? I've read numerous articles on Chevys and Toyotas losing their IFS in favor of a straight axle. I am not mechanically inclined enough to perform the work myself but I would be...- Axel Fernandez
