Explorer ST vs Palisade Limited
I could smell the exhaust/carbon smell after every acceleration, when I had 4 adults and start uphill the smell was more like burnt oil. Only time I felt dizzy was going thru the passes between Yuma and San Diego on I-8, just opened the windows and made sure climate control was set on outside...- jerraz

2018 V6 engine plug
Thanks 96xj, I thought as much, compared to other plugs on this engine, I don’t see evidence of a seal or o-ring, going to fix it myself, surprised I didn’t get any glow here after the dye, it bothers me because when i pull it into the my garage you can smell oil.- jerraz

2018 V6 engine plug
Does anyone know what this plug is for? or torque specs for it. I have 2018 Explorer 3.5L (non-turbo), its behind the alternator next to the water pump weep hole. Seems like mine is leaking. Ford dealer as well as Ford customer service says its ok and not a problem, but i wipe it off and it just...- jerraz

2018 Explorer XLT 3.5L. Engine Whine/Whistle Noise
Ours has done this since new and the dealer says its belt noise. But that whistle sure sounds like a vacuum leak to me. It has not gotten worse or better.- jerraz

2018 Explorer Limited 3.5L oil leaks
I've got 15k miles on it now and still leaks oil and exhaust smell. Dealer says exhaust smell is known issue with no fix. The persistent oil leak seems to come from between the head and block, see photos, wet behind the alternator and oil seems to burn off just under the exhaust manifold.- jerraz

Confirmed: Some Exhaust in Cabin when Acceleration issue is From the Front
I have had the exhaust smell since buying my 2018 EX in Nov.2018, I've also been to the dealer many times. They have test driven it with me and confirm the exhaust smell while accelerating and they(Dealer) just tell me its a known issue with no fix. I try not to accelerate to hard. I thought I...- jerraz

Update: Still have the exhaust smell in the cabin, but just exhaust smell after hard accel, 4000+rpm, and after accel to speed and let off the pedal. No burning oil smell thou. I checked the exhaust manifolds for leaks, but found what seems like missing bolts. See photos. How many bolts/studs...- jerraz

Confirmed: Some Exhaust in Cabin when Acceleration issue is From the Front
If anyone is still looking for info on exhaust smell in cabin, I have a 2018 3.5L Limited Explorer that developed the smell in the cabin on hard acceleration after the dealer did some engine repairs. I found the oil level was too high, when I lowered the oil level to normal, the smell went away...- jerraz

2018 Explorer Limited 3.5L oil leaks
When I checked the oil filter for leaks, I saw 2 drips coming of the bottom of the engine, traced it up the back side to the front engine cover. Dealer had to replace the front cover gasket compound. Seemed to be leaking at the head and block joint. I've seen other postings with same photos...- jerraz

2018 Explorer Limited 3.5L oil leaks
Oil filter adapter gasket covered by the warranty. The gasket was half folded inside the adapter not sealing a thing. Regarding QC a joke - I just watched a dozen video posts of the guys partying or stoned and dancing on the assembly line, Ford doesn’t care? Hope nothing else goes wrong.- jerraz
