The Crutchfeild harness made my install easy, I sat at my work bench and hooked the harness up and was able to walk outside pull the old unit out cut the power antena wire and splice it into the harness and plug everything together and play. The whole operation took less than 15 minutes. Crutch...- ASmallwood

I gotta tell you, I could care less about horsepower, especially now when gas in my neighborhood is $2.37 for regular. I am only concered about MPG, does anyone have the MPG stats. My 1998 I have had my 1998 for almost 5 years and have had only the normal problems most of which I have been able to fix with the help of this forum. interco questions?
Personally This is only my opinion, I don't know where an how you typically drive. I use my explorer as a daily driver and we use it to tow our Pop up camper when we go camping and realy the only time it is off-raod is when we go fishing (and even that is not up to the doors mud.) I have been...- ASmallwood

interco questions?
Years Ago When Thornbirds first came sometime around like 93 or 94 they were tested by (I think) 4 Wheeler and Offraod Magazine and ire meber one of the coments saying something like "They get better traction in reverse, which is good because you will get hung up going forward in most condidtions."- ASmallwood

4.0 sohc Cam chain rattle/noise solution
That is it. That is exactly like the one I installed in fact that looks like the exact kit I bought. if you llok at it, you can see how the metal framing comes up around the outside and you can see that it has metal in the center where it bolts to the block. $60 is a bargain, I want to say I...- ASmallwood

4.0 sohc Cam chain rattle/noise solution
Don't Remember Exactly. I am sorry, I don't remember exactly, I am pretty sure the only parts that were plastic were where the guide met the chain and I am pretty sure that even that was just plastic covering metal. So there really wasn't much. Let me take another look tonight and see if I can...- ASmallwood

TB spacers
Question about it. I have a 98 SOHC, and have read quite a few things about spacers and am very interested in getting one. What kind did you get and did you do any other mods at the same time. I am not as interested in the power gain, but more so the better gas milage the usually acompanies the...- ASmallwood

4.0 sohc Cam chain rattle/noise solution
My bet is that it would have been upgraded as well. Don't get me wrong the replacement is still flimsy, but not as flimsy as the original. The ones I replaced were all metal framing with plastic covers were it met the chain. I would go back to the dealer and ask to see the other options. In my...- ASmallwood

4.0 sohc Cam chain rattle/noise solution
Best Picture The Best picture I have seen so far is at the dealership on Microfiche. They can print it out for you and you will have a decent cut away picture. Also I recomend if anyone is doing this job, to ask the dealership to look through all of the options and price them out for you. An...- ASmallwood

4.0 sohc Cam chain rattle/noise solution
Caution I agree the job reads fairly easy in the books, but the one thing the book doesn't tell you is to carefully inspect the pieces you pull out. I did not fully inspect everything and did not realize how many metal shavings were left in the motor evidentally and it pulled a rod through the...- ASmallwood

Troubleshooting Cruise Control
I don't remember exactly, but I am pretty sure I used an open end wrench and I don't think much fluid if any came out, as I know I didn't bleed the system. I would just be prepared as you pull the old one out to stuff the new one in.- ASmallwood
