Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
Alright. Thanks for the tips! So...if the pump wasn't engaged right and that was the source of the problem. If I disconnected the return line...no fluid would be pumping? If there is fluid coming out the return line does that necessarily mean that pump is engaged and working properly?- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
Well I put the starter on and it started fine. Left the inspection plate off and nothing hit or grinded. I think I did it alright and it was just hard to turn for some reason. I tried turning it without the plate on and was tough too. So I think it was just...the way it is. My compression must...- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
I will have to do a for real check (bolt it in and give it power) because all I did was eyeball it...which is not accurate because the starter gear jumps out when it gets power right?- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
Yeah I think that is what I will do when I get out there next time. Teeth are all good and there is dowel type pins on the tranny that lined up with the engine and the seperator plate lines up with the dowels and then subsequently...the bolts. I am actually beginning to think maybe the torque...- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
Yes...and I am not sure. I am starting to think I may have?! I was pretty rattled yesterday so...it is a possibility. The truck is about 25 mins away from I live and I believe it has gotten drug outta the shop, so this weekend is when I will go back probably...but I am at a bit of a loss as to...- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
Must be a bad angle, the skinny plate part between the tranny and engine is lined up (the bolts go through the holes and whatnot) also the torque converter bolts are snugged up and the flexplate/torque converter can be turned via crankshaft and they do not hit anything. Without the inspection...- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
I pulled the tranny in with the bolts and then when it was in I tightened the torque converter bolts. They went on no problem. So flexplate shouldn't be bent. The train was sticky coming out so I figured it was just snug going in? But I am mentally preparing for having to get a different pump haha- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
I will try that first chance I get. With the nuts off the torque converter bolts will still "clank" on the flywheel somewhat won't they? Or are we talking a bigger clank noise here? Haha This transmission and torque converter were pulled my a used expo. Never taken apart. I gave up on that old...- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
Not sure I am following you here? Currently I have the whole assembly put together. The tranny is fully bolted to the engine and the torque converter is bolted to the flexplate. But things don't seem to be lining up right...what should I do or check?- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
It seemed like there was a gap maybe?? The one side was snug and I pulled in the other side with the bolts... it snugged up...but now that you mention it maybe should have gone on better. If i tightened it up the the engine to tranny bolts would I have ruined something in the tranny??? Yes it...- Dweano

Did I just put the flexplate on backwards?!?
I had to take it off yesterday while I was putting in a new tranny to change my oil pan gasket (which I still couldn't do) and I think I put it on backwards...somehow. The starter doesn't look like it is engaging and I can't turn the crank when I put the inspection cover back on. The...- Dweano

Weird 4R70W problems
Does anyone have any ideas?!?!? I ordered all new solenoids but due to shipping debacles I still haven't got them. It was stuck in second before it "died" and I have heard that second is a fail safe position when both solenoids aren't working. So that gives me hope. Something interesting...- Dweano

Weird 4R70W problems
No tranny codes. I think I am going to drop the pan and change the solenoids. The air bubble incident put darker fluid up on the dipstick so I am guessing that there is some grime in there that got stirred up and maybe jammed up the solenoids???- Dweano

4r70w transmission staying in 2nd gear
I feel your pain. I too have a 96 Ranger I swapped a explorer powertrain into. My 4R70W worked good for about a minute and is now doing weird things...I think I am going to swap out all the soleniods and see if that helps. Any good write ups on that?- Dweano

Weird 4R70W problems
Anyone have thoughts? I am thinking something in the valve body is messed or else some (all? haha) soleniods are messed up. Which would make sense with the drain out and add fluid. Weird 4R70W problems
Hey guys. I swapped the powertrain from a 96 V8 Explorer into my 96 Ranger. Swapped the expo computer. The harness is all from the expo. I didn't even disconnect anything from the tranny. Kept the engine and tranny together as a unit. Quick Question About Seats
Here is the ones I have On autoanything they don't make you put in a submodel (like EB or Sport) they just make you pick seat type. The closest I think is "Sport, with built in headrest, with power lumbar" What does THAT seat actually look like? Closest match?- Dweano

I looked it up and they have that part...for 15 bucks. I can get it in the two part version at Princess Auto for cheaper. I will probably end up doing that. Teflon tape the threads before use right? And any high temp hose should work right? (3/8 of course)- Dweano
