    Thud in transmission

    I have a 1994 Explorer with a worsening sound in what I think is the transmission. We have had the car since it was new and remember how it should sound, but now it thuds, lurches or pops into shifting gears. Especially, down shifting. Also, just putting it into drive from park can cause this...
