Offroad lighting ?
I just got a set of 520's from caarparts.com for 151.42---that includes shipping...you need to use the 1/3 off coupon...so if you spend up to $300, you get a max of $100 off. Pretty good deal if you want the 80 XTs.- MyExploder

Trailmaster '98-'00 update...
What is different about the torsion drops? Is it that they won't fit at all or need minor mods that could be done by someone with a grinder and a drill?- MyExploder

Trailmaster '98-'00 update...
From what I've read, I don't know how much longer I can wait for Trailmaster. From what I've heard, on a 98 Explorer, a late model ranger kit will work. Is this correct? The only concern is the rear springs?- MyExploder

4.0l crate motor??? does it exist?
I just got my 98 Sport back from the dealer today with a brand new 4.0 OHV. It only took them from July until last week to come up with one. If they do exist.....they must be pretty rare!- MyExploder

Sending out S.O.S to all Phoenix area members
I hear you there! I'm all for doing stuff myself when possible. I think that the best things are that you don't get ripped off for big $$ and that the work is QUALITY! Its much better to be able to blame yourself than someone else for messing up your Explorer! Good Luck!- MyExploder

4.0L OHV noise
Hey NiteLife...our OHV's, from what I understand don not have cam chain tensioners. I think that those are only on the SOHC engines. Can anyone confirm this for me? I finally got a service advisor that didn't try to band-aid the problem or quick fix it with something else. I hope that I get...- MyExploder

Oh Well...
I am getting a new engine from Ford under warranty. I was told that I would have 12 mo. or 12,000 on just the engine. My warranty will expire on the rest of the vehicle in March '01. I will hit the 3 years before the miles. Sounds kind of shady....Good luck!- MyExploder

I have the same problem that you described. on the first visit to the dealer, they "cleaned" the #5 "combustion chamber"....whatever. RS5000 vs RS9000
Either Ranchos are better than the stock ones by far! I just put the 9000's on my 98 Sport and what a difference it made! I had the fronts set on 3, the middle setting and the rears on 2, a little softer, for around town. Then I went on a road trip and the road was full of curves, so I set them...- MyExploder

explorer pro comp add a leaves?
When I was looking for the add-a-leafs, I was told not to use them on the single leaf style springs found on the Sport models. If you put it under the main spring, it will cause the main sping to ride on the ends of the add-a-leaf and in turn weaken the main spring where the add-a-leafs ends...- MyExploder

Turning 4x4 Auto into 4x4 high?
4 Auto to 2WD Ok...so what would happen if you wanted 2wd instead of 4Auto? There has to be a way to disconnect or modify how it engages the front end. Is it just the switch on the dash or is there more to it. My guess is that there is more to it.I also have a 98 with 4Auto, 4hi, and 4low.- MyExploder

Are '95 and '98 factory amps the same?
Hi Jeff... From what I gather from your conversation is that there are NO external amps in '98 EXCEPT for the Mach system running the sub? I have just the base CD player and want to replace it but was wondering about the external amp. Thanks for your help.- MyExploder

Flowmaster Exhaust
I just installed a 50 series on my '98 Sport with the 4.0 OHV. It's a little loud---not bad.I had a shop do the cat back with 2 1/2 pipe into the Flowmaster P/N 52556. It cost me $165 for everything. 3" WIDE add-a-leaf
I was told that on my 98 Sport that if it has a momo leaf that a add-a-leaf CANNOT be used. It will hit the mono and cause it to break where it hits. airbox mod. on 99 sport
I have a 98 sport. I took the airbox out and removed that "reducer" that has the inlet behind the headlight. The duct is long enough to go past the radistor support...- MyExploder
