Interior lights
If you leave the doors open for around 45 minutes, the battery save mode kicks in and shuts the lights off. While working on the truck I have had occasion to cycle this many times without ill effect on the battery.- DrPhibes

Odd car audio question
If you search " factory amp location" on the board, you will get more info than you probably wanted to know about it. Chances are, if your new head unit was wired into a premium sound system harness, it was not done with the necessary level reduction circuitry (small black box) in line with the...- DrPhibes

Odd car audio question
There is a single amplifier behind the rear panel on the opposite (passenger) side. Did your factory head unit have 2 connectors on the harness? (one single strip gray, and the other square black)? Tom- DrPhibes

Odd car audio question
Sounds to me like your new HU is overdriving the factory amp. This assumes you have connected directly to your in-dash wiring via an adapter. If the head unit was connected directly to your speakers this would probably aleviate the problem. If you are comfortable with finding and splicing wires...- DrPhibes

engine miss problem
Had the same problem recently, new plugs (Autolite double platinums) and new wires were the fix. Cleaned the MAF while I was in the neighborhood. MPG's went from 15 and change, up to just under 19. Plugs and wires are cheap compared to the time you might spend trying to diagnose a problem with...- DrPhibes

Driveline jerk and tremble Please Help!
I have a similar thing going on with a '97 OHV 5 speed auto, seems to stumble (almost like the coil pak power is interupted for a split second) on climbing hills or under light acceleration at hiway speeds. Since I just picked this truck up a few months ago, I have no idea about its history. I...- DrPhibes

manual hubs on control trac?
Thanks for the quick replies! tenikiwon, My impression of that Auto4WD setting is that it is by most standards an awd system or should I say on demand awd. (B/W 4405 viscous damped) correct me if I'm wrong. There was no ABS indicator apparent on the dash, there was a check engine light...- DrPhibes

manual hubs on control trac?
Greetings all! I am new to the board, and was wondering if I might get some of your thoughts on this. I have a '97 Sport w/Control Trac, auto trans, V6 that was exhibiting chatter in the ABS during low speed stops. Off it wen't to the shop for what the mech said was a new front sensor. This...- DrPhibes
