Mine has the same problem, It's most likely your heads are cracked, and your probably dripping **** into your exhaust causing that thick billowing smoke.....so i'm guessing like me, your gonna be out at leas a grand or two.........

My '93 XLT is a 4-door and i only have an 18 gallon tank, and mines been getting ****y gas mileage to... you probably might want to go in for a tune up (i need to take my own advice), it could also be where you've been getting your gas, i noticed i changed gas stations and it helped a little bit...

Is it just me, or does the 4X4 switch go out on all '93 Explorers? And how much does it usualy cost to get it fixed? (also the low range switch)
