i might be changing the subject here but i have to throw this in,i just bought my wife an 03 limited ex with the rugged trails 245/65/17 and replaced them with some 255/60/17 dunlop sp5000 and man let me tell you the truck not only handles better but looks really good too.

iridium plugs are 100k plugs platnum plugs are 60k plugs i work at a dealership and thats what they change them at.

does it rattle only on acceleration?

stupied question why did they have to replace the converter? was it making noise or was it not acting right like not shifting right,banging or chatter??????

my problem can very well be just the flywheel and not the converter.the truck shifts and runs beautifull.just the rattling noise is driving me crazy, especially when your close to a building like a drive thru you can really hear it.

does it sound like a heat shield rattle noise??if thats the case the dealer told me it was the torque converter so now i dont know wether to believe them or not.

i'm having the same problems with my 97 Ex only the third brake light works i tried replacing the switch and it still does the same thing,they turn on once in awhile.

does anyone have any idea what the problem might be cause im having the same problem.

i have the same problem but mine only has the 2 tail brake lights out intermitently they come on some times but my center brake light never goes out,also when the lights dont work the automatic door locks dont work either when you get off the brake.Thanks for any help you can give me

mine has a very light clicking sound when slowing down on the left frt wheel it kind of goes away after it speeds up but when you slow down i can here .i thought it was normal.

i changed the front shaft with a new one from Ford ($192) and the noise went away. i been driving it all day today i even took it on the hwy up to 90MPH and it runs and drives like new again.:D

I GOT BRAVE AND INSTALLED THE NEW SHAFT AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY:bounce: THANKS GOD IT WASNT THE TRANSFERCASE.:)

my wife has a 1997 explorer i havent climbed under there yet but i would like to know if anyone has gone through this .it's making a strong sqeak noise when going over a bump on the right side front wheel.any help would be apreciated thanks.
