OK, so what the mechanic is telling me is there is a locking ring on this tank on the inside that connects to a ring on the outside and the only way to fix is to replace the tank. Anyone ever hear of this on a 94 Explorer Sport?

Thanks guys for the input. I thought the gas tank was a plastic. So this rotted flange around the sending unit that this guy is talking about is more than likely this fuel tank locking ring. Cool ..... I'll see if this mechanic guy will actually consider that. thanks

Well it leaks while running and after the first 10 minutes of shut off. Probably 1/4 cup at a time. I don't notice it leaking as much when there is an 1/8th of a tank or less. Anything over that seems to leak. I will probably get someone else to tackle this but I'd like to know before I...

From what I can tell it is coming from the Drivers side somewhere above the skid plate. Any thoughts?
