    99 Euro Spec Explorer

Not in the UK manual it's not. A friend owns a garage and I read the workshop manual and it will take an hour or so (not hours). Ignition key has to stay in various positions for 10 minutes at a time - get the sequence wrong and you start again. Just repeating what I read in a hope to aid our...

    99 Euro Spec Explorer

Hello... I have a 99 euro spec - I just purchased a new remote and you need to go to a dealer to program... it can be done via the ignition switch, but you need a workshop manual to go through the motions - plenty of turning back and forth to different positions and waiting ten minutes here and...

Nasty noise when in 4x4 mode

Thanks for the heads up fellas... Pavement was wet... but pavement all the same. I used to have a perm 4x4 LandRover Defender, so that lived in high 4x4 all the time, hence my concerns at the noise on the X... now I know it's the norm - I'll leave it alone until I need it in the right place...

Nasty noise when in 4x4 mode

Hi Folks... Decided I should pop the truck into 4x4 modes before the winter lands and check it functions OK, haven't needed it since last years snow. In both High and Low modes all is well until I make a turn, I'm getting a kind of groan come from the front end - very metallic and resonating...

    cost for brake change?

Couldn't help join in with this... Just replaced all pads and discs (rotors in the US I think). My closest friend owns a garage so all these prices are trade so no mark up - I paid no labor charges - so this purely the cost of parts in the UK... Firstly Ford UK supplied pads at £98.00 GBP per...

    Vehicle Identification Numbers

Howard, on the way to the 'petrol station' remember to avoid the any 'motorways' and take as many 'roundabouts' as you can, watch out for 'rubbish bins' placed on the 'tarmac' and not on the 'pavement'.... I'll stop now. ;-) AK, Like what your doing... 'Hands across the ocean'... Been...

    Vehicle Identification Numbers

Steve, Thank you sir, sounds like the search is over! See you're in E.Sussex... if you're ever driving on the A285 from Petworth to Chichester, take a diversion up the quarry road at the top of Duncton Hill, it leads on to a by-way that'll take you cross-country west to east. Perfectly...

    Head Gasket Troubles???

Sound advice, did have a look at the time and it looked good, but then it had apparently just had a service, so not sure how long it would take new oil to get that 'mayonnaise' look? Makes me wonder if the previous owner had been warned that a new gasket might be in order at the time of the...

    Vehicle Identification Numbers

Figured the same... (In-laws are US citizens, so spend time in US) but no tag on the dash.... The search goes on. Cheers anyways.

    Vehicle Identification Numbers

I'm looking at buying a '98 XLT (UK Model import - I'm in the UK) and trying to locate how many VIN plates the car has? There is one on the front bulkhead - this is in the shape of a sticker (rather than a plate that's been pop-rivited) - the VIN is slightly rubbed, all looks OK - with the car...

    Head Gasket Troubles???

I'm looking at buying a '98 XLT (UK Model import - I'm in the UK) 46,000 miles, all looks straight - but there's a small amount of milky residue on the underside of the oil cap and a bit more around the inner 'turret' that the cap screws into. It's been a wet and cold month here in the UK and...
