    Tried putting gas in the carburetor and start it but it just back fired,can the fuel regulator be plugged? or does the 1997 ford explorer have a fuel filter?

    Thank you for replying...Guy's figured it was the starter wouldn't listen to a "woman" Lol!! when i told them that it ran out of gas and figured i brought up all the gunk from the bottom of the tank so now they're going to check the fuel pump,doesn't seem to be getting gas when we put more in...
