Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Apples to oranges. If you don't have the problem then you don't know what you're talking about anyway. Coming on this thread and trying to insinuate it doesn't exist or it's not bad because you personally don't have the problem is pretty much the same as Ford stating it doesn't exist because...

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

The problem exists with regular gas. The problem exists whether or not the air is on or off. The fans only help circulate the smell so it is more pronounced in the cabin, however, even with no HVAC active the smell will still seep into the cabin albeit less pronounced.

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Peter, bottom line, the high RPM's do not equate to equivalent power on acceleration and it burns a lot of gas so I'm not saving anything there. At this rate my old 98 would have easily kept up with my current Explorer on acceleration and that was a V6, just 14 years older. It's just slow...

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Johnboy, let me clear up your confusion then, when I purchased my EX 2013 Limited that model was not available AFAIK, which has absolutely zero to do with the topic. Hybrid=crossover, not electric. :D

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Hi Don, <<If it still does it in a couple more thousand miles then I guess I have a problem.>> I have over 13K on my new 2013 Limited and yes it's still there. However, I only experience at high RPM's like you mentioned. It's very rare now because high RPMs with this vehicle just doesn't...

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Hi Peter, Well, yesterday I left work at 55F, so it worked fine. This morning prob 45+, again average warmup, worked fine. It's definitely a cold weather issue, maybe related to the oil blend and/or the engine. Certainly my old 98 Ex definitely did not have this startup time. I'm beginning...

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Hi Peter, Thanks. Ignoring the smell, the acceleration issue might be expectations. I drove my other Explorer(98) into the ground (well actually a deer) and that lasted for 13+ years. So for 40K plus I didn't expect the high whining piston noise when floored(when already at 50 or so), I...

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

I was actually trying to find information on poor acceleration of the 2013 Explorer but found this. Which is ironic since the burnt oil smell happened to me right after I floored it. The two times I did this I was going probably 50-60 and was trying to pass. Both times not only did the truck...
