    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

I read an article a while back that said the motor doesn't need backpressure, it needs exhaust scavenging.. So based on that article it would be best to keep small pipe diameters (2,5" single) and open mufflers..

    4x4 & low 4x4 flashing

Yesterday evening i started my '99 explorer v6 sohc and i saw the horrible 4x4 high and low lights flashing.. :( - lost auto 4x4 - lost 4x4 high - lost 4x4 low - it does go into the low range when i switch to 4x4 low (except 4x4 doesnt work..) (can hear the relay switching). - lost power...

    Westin bull bar

So is this bullbar functional? Does it actually help if you hit something? Or is it a fake and will buckle when you hit a dog or something.. Is it firmly mounted to the frame?

    Egr removal

Yes so when you hit the throttle the egr valve closes and the intake air temprature wil return to cold again.. But then you still have a hot Egr tube in the middle of the intake..

    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

I heard someone said the throttle response is a lot better without cat's..

    Egr removal

Yeah i think it is back to normal.. So why do we do al sorts of mods to get the lowest intake air temprature possible, and then inject super hot exhaust gas into the intake?

    Egr removal

I have restored the Egr line. Hmm.. intresting. It was above 32 degrees fahrenheit (0 degrees centigrade, freezing point) How long is one driving cycle? Since i have restored the line, is my ex now the same as it was before i took the line off? Thanks.

    Egr removal

I mainly did this to prevent carbon buildup in the intake. And to see if it effects performance (have read on a ford truck forum that it would improve throttle response). I have read your article before i did this. This was a mere experiment to see if it would change something. I think gas...

    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

Shen2187: Wouldn't a H-pipe be better? hunterdan: Thanks for the tips, exhaust wrap has past my mind before too. I was thinking about replacing the front cat's with a pair of single mufflers (small freeflow mufflers). Then Y the pipes into a single 2,5" pipe, and run this to the rear...

    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

I was thinking about how to solve the problem with losing torque when you go duals. If you Y the pipe's into a single 2,5" pipe after the front cat's and then Y it back to dual 2,25" tailpipes right before the rear axle. Would this solve the problem..?

    Egr removal

Hi there, Yesterday i took of the vacuum line from the egr valve and plugged both ends. It doesn't throw any lights yet, Have already driven for about an hour. Is the pcm in closed loop mode? or not? Now i'm monitoring fuel consumption to see if it changes. Greets.

Did you gain torque and horsepower when you removed the cat's?

Custom Exhaust for Maximum Torque - 4.0 Sohc

IZwack: I'm already looking at the intake :) Oh and i'm not gonna design my own muffler :P I did get some custom made mufflers: Wanted to use them in my exhaust setup, have 4 of them (wanted to do true duals, but have been told that i will lose a lot of torque. :() Back o2 sensors are...

Custom Exhaust for Maximum Torque - 4.0 Sohc

Hi there, Since our 4.0 Sohc v6 engines dont like freeflowing exhaust systems with big pipe diameters and need backpressure to produce low end torque, true duals seems to be out of the question, almost all low end torque seems to be lost... So what exhaust setup for our 4.0 Sohc engines...

How to: Default Overdrive OFF modification

    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

I live in the Netherlands, so i can't buy those mufflers over here. Tried to get a vortex muffler but that wasnt do-able. And shipping them is a hell and cost a lot of $$.. Customs are idiots over here, my headlights and intake are at the customs office for months now, because they don't...

    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

The O2 sensors where already deleted when i bought the truck.. I think they simulated them in some way yes. yes single pipe works the best for low end torque, did you gain torque over the stock exhaust? But i would like dual pipes in the back and as much torque as possible (at least more...

    4.0 Exhaust Clip Thread !

Hi there, I have a '99 4.0 Sohc Explorer. I wanted to do true duals from the manifolds to the back in 2,25 inch pipes. But after some reading i found out that i will lose a lot of low end power (torque). So i'm thinking about dropping the true dual idea. What i want (would like :p:)...

    Central locking problems

Hi there, I have the same problem in my '99 ex. I can unlock with the remote as normal, but i can't lock with the remote or with any other switch (can't lock with cargo area switch either). The remote system seems to work as the red lock light starts to light up when i press the lock button...

    Countering Tire roll

Well most of the time i drive it faster then a car now haha. But ok i get it, thanks for your help.

    Countering Tire roll

Yeah so there's not much to do about it then get E load range tires.. But will it be a big difference between 16" rim and 30" tire and 16" (or maybe 17") rim and 33" tire?
  23. E

    Countering Tire roll

I think body roll wont be such a big problem with a good sway bar, it doesn't tend to tip over or something in the corners. When you go too fast the tires simply lose traction and you slide out of the corner (had this once on a country road, manged to save it just in time :P). then i was...

    Countering Tire roll

So body lift 3" + bigger tires 1,5" is 4,5" = 114 mm stock wheels are 0 offset, dick cepec dc-1's are offset = -47 mm so that would be 94 mm wider. is this correct? The increased body roll can be countred by sway bars? So this still leaves tire roll problem, anyone any solutions for this...

    Countering Tire roll

I Have ' 99 2nd gen explorer, i have the stock wheels and tires under it and no lift. It handles and corners very well. I was thinking about doing a 4" body lift with some other rims (probably Dick Cepec DC-1 's or something) and 33x12,5 tires. I was told that putting on the body lift probably...
