yea man 8 gauge is sad ****. Not worth it. Might as well spend the extra lil cash and do it. It could potentionally blow your amp and cause over heating and weak performance. Just be safe and do it anyway its not even that expensive.

Referring to what leenjen said... Nothing more than three feet away from the amp but you also dont want it to be too close or that would completely defeat the purpose.

Never get anything above 4 gauge. 4 gauge is sufficient for pretty much anything. 8 gauge is risky. Might as well just do it right the first time.

Try at least going about one week without booming it... keep your gains relatively low but remmeber that the sub has to move to break in... It would help to see how much they are moving and inch it inch by inch as the week progresses. Its something to be taken seriously but one week is more...
