He must be talking about a SOA (spring over axle). right now the axle is above your leaf spring. If you relocate it to below your leaf springs you'll gain about 5-6" of lift. But then something would have to be done with the front to level it out.

Yes, but the '98 has no speedometer sensor port. So you'd have to swap the rear housing or go without a speedo (don't do that :D ).

Yep...I bet it was a scion. I saw a thing on tv about them. Theyr'e made by Toyota, but they dont have the Toyota label on them. And yes, as hard as it is to imagine, they are actually uglier than the Element.

we went to the junkyard the other day and tore a lever out of a '94 and put it right into my '98. It only set me back $6.50, instead of the $100+ that the dealership wanted to charge me.

The passenger side is usually the one that goes. But often times its just a blown out gasket. The bolts tend to work loose resulting in a blow out. I'd invest in some locking bolts and decent gaskets (whether the manifold is cracked or not.

I think the only difference between the two really are the spark plug angles. I know they're pretty universal heads because I have the Gt40 headers on my P heads. What did you want to know, Jed?

If your passenger side manifold has the exhaust recirculation tube coming off it and going back up to the intake, you have the Ps. There should also be a stamp in front of spark plug number one either saying "GT" or "GT40", or if they're Ps then "GT40P". No one is making headers as of yet...

I got a '98 sohc sport 4x4 last year with 80,000 miles on it for right around $8000. I have definitely had a few problems with it- had to replace the transfer case and also the manifold o-rings under the 00-M12 recall, but I am still very happy with it. the gas mileage isnt quite 20 mpg, but...

I think the only mounts that are different are the very front ones, which can easily be adapted. But I'm not 100%. The frame rails are pretty much the same on the rear of both but change in the front for suspension differences. This is a very possible swap, but it would be a lot more work...

Here's the deal. I am an A/C idiot so you guys need to talk to me like I'm seven. Here's what happened. I pulled the motor out, it was out for 6 days, nothing was capped. Now is the A/C something I can do myself or should I leave it to the Pros? I think it will cost me $80 to take it...
