    brake problem-master cylinder maybe?

the pads/rotors were shot before I replaced them, but the pedal didn't do this. I replaced the pads/rotors afew months ago but the pedal just got soft recently. I don't know how air could've got in the lines, I should check to see if any of my brake lines are leaking b/c my X is kinda rusty...

    brake problem-master cylinder maybe?

here are the symptoms: when driving, I apply the brakes and the pedal is soft and not much braking, so I let off the pedal then push it again and then the pedal is firm and good braking. and when sitting in the X at a stop, if I push the pedal down I can feel it sink or drop a little...

    KKM intake installed

got my KKM intake installed on my 5.0 yesterday, was pretty easy except the bolt you have to put through the small hole in the front sheet metal that holds the bracket, I guess my hands were just to big, it took me a while and a few curses to get it. in looks great, I didn't notice any...

    96 front diff leaking oil

I got out of the X and smelled gear oil, so I crawled underneth and noticed the front diff pinion seal is leaking. has anyone else had to fix this?? Is the job as straightforward as removing the driveshaft, the yoke, then simply replacing the oil seal, or are crush collars and shims...

    '96,'97 life expectancy and issues

it's not just a door lock actuator, don't get me started with theis thig, everytime I get it running right, something happens and I have to dump more $$$ into it. this has been the most troublesome vehicle I have every owned. I've had (2) Bronco's-1 5.0L, (3) VW"s and my F-350.

    STRONG catylist smell

thanks, it may be my O2 sensor, I think the catylist is still intact inside the converters, I banged on all of them with a rubber hammer and I didn't hear anything rattling around inside. I guess I'll look into the O2 sensors. If one or more is getting "lazy", eventually it will get slow...

    Most common front end problems?

common frontend problems?? well, the sealed wheel bearings, the upper ball joints (in which the whole control arm has to be replaced), the lower ball joints, and the tie rods. EVERYTHING is a problem with the frontend on X's b/c you can't grease ANYTHING

    Shackle Upgrade (Warrior 153) Questions

I installed WAR153's on the X about 2 weeks ago. My X had really bad rear end sag, and after installing the shackles, the rear end was only like 1" higher than the frontend. If I would've left the 30x9.50's on there, I wouldn't have bothered to adjust the torsion bars, but I wanted 31's, so I...

Does anyone have a picture of 30 or 31 inch BFG AT's on a 97 XLT?

when my X was stock, 30x9.50R15's fit fine, no rubbing, they really filled out the wheel wells and looked good. Now with the TT/shackle lift 31's fit fine, no rubbing at all. If you were closer I'd help you do the TT/shackles, it's really not that hard at all.

    Front End Squeaking

I had the SAME thing happen to me, the squeek was driving me nuts and I couldn't find out where it was coming from, any way it turned out the lower ball joint on the passenger side was doing the squeeking. For some un-known reason, you can't grease ANYTHING on the frontend of these explorers...

driver side ball joint is bad

I swear it's always something with this POS. I went to get the X aligned today and the drivers side upper ball joint was shot. I replaced the passengewr side upper ball joint a few months back. On the driver side you have to replace the whole control arm. I spent a lot of money on this damn...

    Ranger bumper on Explorer???????

does anyone know if a Ranger front bumper would fit on a 96 Explorer?? I like the Ranger bumper with the 2 round foglights that sit below the bumper. It would be cool if it would fit, it would make an Explorer stand out I think. Any comments???
